Boxing Odds: David Diaz vs Manny Pacquiao Fight Preview and Pick

The clock continues to tick closer and closer to the main Boxing odds event on Saturday June 28th between Manny Pacquiao and David Diaz.  The boxing odds event is going to take place at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Boxing fanatics around the world are very excited for the card’s main event.  David Diaz, who is the World Boxing Council Lightweight Champion, will defend his title.  This could be the type of fight everyone is looking for and could put a charge into a rather average year of boxing.

This will be Pacquiao’s first crack in the lightweight division.  Manny is a Filipino boxer who has a lot of heart and determination.  He is still only 29 years old and has many more fights to come.  He is able to produce many powerful and accurate punches and will look to employ this strategy on Saturday.  Pacquiao is regarded by many as being one of the hardest pound for pound punchers in the sport.  He has excellent knockout ability and is very quick.  Another key quality is that for all the power that Pacquiao puts into his punches, he still manages to throw so many.  He is an action fighter and is willing to brawl with anyone.  His boxing skills continue to improve as he continues to impress.  Expect Manny to put on a great show this weekend.  Currently the Boxing Oddsmakers at SportsBetting.com have Manny Pacquiao as a huge -455 favorite heading into Saturday’s fight.

David Diaz will come into this fight with nothing to lose and that is what makes him so dangerous.  The 32 year old will be in the battle of his life and that’s exactly what he wants.  It’s going to be a dream come true for him as Diaz has earned it the hard way.  David is a former U.S. Olympian from Chicago and he has battled all the way to the top of the lightweight division.  Diaz is 43-1-1 with 17 KO’s.  These numbers are breathtaking.  His technical skills are incredible and he will come into the fight ready to rumble.  It will be an entertaining one, so make you don’t miss out on any of the action.

Boxing Betting Odds: Ricky Hatton Biography and Fight Picks Preview (05-24-08)Boxing superstar Richard Hatton was born on October 6, 1987 in Stockport, England.  He is an English boxer and is seen by many to be the most popular Brishish fighter of all time.  He is ranked among the best pound for pound fighters in the world.  His knickname is Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton. The oddsmakers at SportsBetting.com currently have the boxing odds for "The Hitman" at -1300 and is the strong fight favorite heading into tonights Boxing matchup against Juan Lazcano.

Hatton’s debut fight was way back on September 10th, 1997 against Colin McAuley.  He won by knockout in round one.  This was a great start to his career.  In 2000, he overcame one of the toughest fights when he defeared Jon Thaxton on the scorecard.  He was cut up early on in the fight but he showed heart and determination and didn’t quit.  On June 5th he beat Kostya Tszuk as a massive underdog.  Many people gave Hatton no chance to win this fight and was one of his best victories.  On November 26, 2005 he won the WBA title when he beat Carlos Maussa in a 9th round knockout.  He was then named 2005 Ring Magazine Fighter of the year in December.  Hatton moved up the the Welterweight division where he won the WBA crown but then later moved back down to reclaim his Light Welterweigh title.

Here is a list of some more of his great accomplishments:

- The Ring magazine's World Light Welterweight Champion - IBO World Light Welterweight Champion - WBC International Light Welterweight Champion - Former 2x IBF World Light Welterweight Champion - Former WBA World Light Welterweight Champion - Former WBA World Welterweight Champion - Former WBU Light Welterweight Champion - Former British Light Welterweight Champion - Former WBO Inter-Continental Light Welterweight Champion - Former WBA Inter-Continental Light Welterweight Champion - Former British Central Area Light Welterweight Champion - The Ring magazine's 2005 'Fighter of the Year' - ABA National Champion Light Welterweight 1997 - ABA National Junior Champion (Class A)Light Welterweight 1995,1996 - ABA National Junior Champion (Class B)Light Welterweight 1997

He holds a pro record of 43-1 with 31 knockouts.  He signed a contract to fight in his home town on Saturday May 24th as a thank you bout to all his fans for their support thoughout his entire career.  He is currently listed as a -1300 favorite at Sportsbetting.com heading into Saturday’s Fight.

Boxing Picks: Ricky Hatton vs Juan Lazcano Preview and Fight Pick (05-20-08)

Boxing Picks: Ricky Hatton vs Juan Lazcano Preview and Fight Pick (05-20-08)Heavy boxing picks favorite Rick Hatton will face Juan Lazcano at the City of Manchester Stadium in Manchester, Lancashire, United Kingdom on Saturday May 24th,.  Hatton is an overwhelming favorite, but I still feel that this will be a fairly entertaining fight.

Ricky Hatton will be fighting in his hometown so he’s going to come out swinging in front of all his supporters and fans.  He is considered to be one of the most popular English fighters of all time.  He is also one of the best pound for pound fighters out there, and has a very strong resume.  Hatton comes into this fight with a professional record of 43-1, with 32 KOs.  He holds the WBA Welterweight title, is a former two time IBF and IBO Light Welterweight Champion, a WBU and WBA Light Welterweight Champion and also a WBA, WBC, and WBO Inter-Continental Light Welterweight Champ.  With all this decoration it’s hard to even give Lazanco a chance to win this fight.  Currently Oddsmakers at BodogLife.com have Hatton as a massive -1100 favorite heading into Saturday.

Juan Lazcano comes into the fight with a record of 37-4-1, with 27 knockouts.  He is from Sacramento, California and has a decent resume of his own.  He is a former WBF, NABF and IBA Lightweight champion.  On Saturday he will be looking to pull off a massive upset.  It’s going to be very hard to Lazcano to fight this caliber of boxer.  I think it’s almost impossible for him to win in front of Hatton’s home crowd.  Lazcano has not boxed in over a year and he may be taking this fight on just for the money.  I think that Hatton is going to knockout Lazcano in one of the later rounds (8-11).  He is going to give his fans a show and dispatch of Lazcano with ease.

Mike Arnaoutis vs Lanardo Tyner Preview and Boxing Picks (05-09-08)

Mike Arnaoutis vs Lanardo Tyner Preview and Boxing Picks (05-09-08)Tonight in Bally’s Atlantic City a terrific boxing picks matchup will take place.  “Mighty” Mike Arnaoutis will take on Lanardo Tyner.  Arnaoutis just recently won the USBA Jr. Welterweight championship belt and will make his first title defense of it tonight against a worthy opponent.  This will be a very even match up, and they fight may go either way.

Mike Arnaoutis comes into this fight with a professional boxing record of 18-2-2, with 9 KO's.  He hails from Athens, Greece and his father was an amateur boxer.  Arnaoutis used to watch his father at the gym when he was younger and he started to train with him, at the young age of 12.  His career is filled with match ups against fellow 140 pounders.  He drew with Juan Urango.  He knocked out Jess Feliciano in the first round.  He lost a WBO title fight to Ricardo Torres and lost a decision to Kendall Holt.  His most recent fight was on March 6th.  This is when he won the USBA Jr. Welterweight title.  He won in dominating fashion over former champion Harrison Cuello.  He has a lot of fan support, as supports in the stands were waving Greek flags and chanting his name.  Currently Oddmakers at BodogLife.com have Arnaoutis as a -625 favorite heading into tonight boxing match.

Lanardo Tyner is a very excited boxer after getting an opportunity to fight for the title.  He has an undefeated record of 19 wins and 0 losses, with 11 KO's.  Tyner thinks that he is going to be Arnaoutis’s Achilles’ heel in this fight.  This may be true, because ever since turning pro, Tyner has come out of the gates with no mercy.  He looked impressive in his past fights and his flawless record speaks for itself.  Ladies and gentleman make no mistake about it, this fight is going to be a good one.  Both fighters are evenly matches and there both here to take the title home.

Boxing Odds: De La Hoya vs Forbes Fight Picks Preview (05-01-08)
Written by Tony Corleone

Thursday, 01 May 2008

Betting Boxing: De La Hoya vs Forbes (05-01-08)On Saturday May 3rd, the Golden Boy, Oscar De La Hoya is going to fight against Steve Forbes live on HBO.  The boxing event will take place at The Home Depot Center's soccer stadium at 10:00 PM ET.  The match is scheduled for 12 rounds of 3 minutes each.

Oscar De La Hoya, who is a Los Angeles native, comes into the fight will a record of 38 wins and 5 losses, with 30 knockouts.  He is currently entering his 17th year as a professional fighter and is coming to the end of what looks to be a Hall of Fame career.  De La Hoya looks to be the better boxer heading into the fight.  When comparing the two fighters, he has Forbes by three and a half inches in size and also has him by 5 inches in wingspan.  These are two huge advantages in Oscar’s favor.  This fight will be a tune up and Oscar should win it handily.  Currently Oddsmakers at SportsBetting.com have De La Hoya as a huge -1700 favorite heading into Saturdays bought.

Steve Forbes is a former WBA super featherweight champion and was a finalist on “The Contender”.  He is from Las Vegas, and holds a record of 33-5, with 9 KO’s.  Forbes is 31, and is younger by 4 years.  He holds the age advantage, but I feel Oscar is much more experienced.   He also holds an advantage is recent fight activity.  Forbes has fought 10 times, since September 2004, while De La Hoya has only fought twice.  Forbes is coming off a recent split decision victory over Francisco Bojado.  This will boost his confidence heading into Saturday.  Another stat to take into account is that he has never been knocked down in 11 years as a professional fighter.

While Forbes is an excellent fighter, he just doesn’t match up to De La Hoya.   During his run on the t.v. show, “The Contender", none of the fighters he faced were anywhere near the caliber of Oscar.  He is not able to match Oscar punch for punch.  Oscar is more experienced, a bigger fighter and much quicker.  I think De La Hoya will take this fight easily and put another win under his belt.
