For the first time in school history the Tennessee Volunteers come into tonight’s College Basketball Picks action as they #1 ranked team in the land when they visit the No. 14 ranked Vanderbilt Commodores. The Volunteers come into this one 25-2 SU including 11-1 SU in the SEC East off a huge win over then No. 1 Memphis that snapped the Tigers' 47 game home winning streak. The win ran Tennessee’s current winning streak to 9 games overall. The Vols leading scorer, Chris Lofton, is hoping to get back on track tonight as Memphis held him to just seven points on 2 of 11 shooting. Tennessee has been tough on the road as well positing an impressive 11-2 SU road mark. However, on the road the Vols offense has tended to struggle as they average almost 8 less points on the road scoring 75.5 points per game versus the overall season average of 83.3. This will be a tough road game for Tennessee and it shows in the line as they are listed as a small -1.5 road favorite at BetOnline.com. The Vanderbilt Commodores got pounded by the Vols in their previous College Basketball Picks meeting 80-60 but all that might not matter tonight as they are a perfect 17-0 SU at home this season. Overall the Commodores come in at 23-4 SU overall and 8-4 SU in the SEC East. They also come into this one having won six straight games. This past Saturday the Commodores beat the Georgia Bulldogs 86-74 with their senior guard Shan Foster leading the charge scoring 29 points. The senior guard is second in the conference in scoring at 19.3 points per game. Just as Tennessee can score, so can Vanderbilt as they average 85.8 points per game at home. In fact, Tennessee and Vanderbilt are the two highest scoring teams in the SEC. Tennessee has won three of their last four meetings including this years blowout. This will be the first time in Tennessee’s history where they will have the burden of carrying the number 1 ranking but if history is any indication that might not matter as they are 36-14 ATS off a road win since 1997. Although Vanderbilt it unbeaten at home they have had problems exacting revenge as they are only 3-12 ATS (-10.2 Units) revenging a blowout loss versus opponent of 20 points or more since 1997. The Hoosiers are in the middle of a recruiting scandal, a coaching change as a result and rumors of a player boycott, and yet they have managed to put together an impressive three-game College Basketball picks winning streak. Go figure. Indiana is ranked 12th in the country as they try to move into a tie atop the conference and earn its first regular season sweep of Ohio State in 10 years when it hosts the Buckeyes on Tuesday. SportsBetting.com currently has the Buckeyes as the +8 dogs heading to Indiana. Ohio State at Indiana Assembly Hall Bloomington, Indiana Tip Off: 7:00pm EST There was some doubt as to whether Indiana’s players would even attend Saturday’s game at Northwestern after six of them skipped Friday’s practice, the first under interim coach Dan Dakich. While most Hoosiers opposed the buyout of former coach Kelvin Sampson - who had been charged with major recruiting violations and presenting false information to the NCAA - all of them made the trip to Evanston and played in the team’s 85-82 win over the Wildcats. Indiana, though, has played well through difficult times. The Hoosiers moved back into contention for the Big Ten title with home wins over Michigan State and Purdue last week, even though the Sampson investigation was by then hanging publicly over the program. With four games left, the Hoosiers are tied in the loss column with the 16th-ranked Boilermakers and No. 10 Wisconsin. Indiana shot 56.1 percent against Northwestern, as Eric Gordon and D.J. White had 18 and 16 points, respectively. It was a more unlikely duo, however, that played the biggest role in the victory. Guard Armon Bassett had a season-high 24 points, while reserve guard Jordan Crawford added 21 and five assists. The two players shot a combined 8-of-12 from 3-point range. Dakich, who played at Indiana and was an assistant there under former coach Bob Knight, was greeted warmly by fans in Evanston, and it would seem likely he’d get a similar reaction in his first game as head coach at Assembly Hall. Ohio State has lost four of its last five games in Bloomington, but the Hoosiers haven’t managed a two-game sweep of the Buckeyes since the 1997-98 season. They beat Ohio State 59-53 in Columbus on Feb. 10, getting 21 points and 13 rebounds from White. Including that game, the Buckeyes have lost three of four, and may be in need of a defining win to help their case for an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament. They shot 37 percent from the field in a 58-53 home defeat to then-No. 11 Wisconsin on Sunday, losing despite freshman Kosta Koufos’ third straight double-double. It was the fourth straight time Ohio State fell to a ranked opponent by six points or fewer, extending its losing streak against ranked teams to seven. We are on absolute fire right now! Don't even think about touching this one before checking out who we like! The College Basketball Picks season is winding down with the start of today's Braket Buster matchups and Conference Championships and March Madness just around the corner. It has been an interesting season where, up until at least tonight, only one ranked team remains unbeaten. Certainly you could argue the point that Memphis remains unbeaten because of a weak C-USA schedule, but none the less, they still haven't lost. One of the best Conferences in College Basketball as listed by the "experts" has been the Pac-10. It's tough to argue that point looking at the level of competition. So, it is there where I decided to focus my attention this week to see what angles and/or trends we might be able to exploit in today's action. Below is what I found. Home Teams Unlike most Conferences the home team in the Pac-10 is not the side that you want to bet on considering that they are only 23-40 ATS this season after a money losing 42-45 ATS performance last season. It gets even worse if they are playing an opponent off back to back SU and ATS losses as they are only 1-6 ATS this season. If these home teams just happen to be a underdog now you have an opportunity to grab the cash as they are a woeful 3-13 ATS. Looking for Revenge Many a handicappers heavily weighs the fact that looking for revenge in Conference play is a can't miss winner. Not so in the Pac-10 where teams looking for revenge this season are only 22-29 ATS overall. Strangely enough if these same teams are looking for revenge on the road they have produced a 12-9 ATS mark. So where does that leave us for today? Let's take a look at recommendations for today. Recommendation: UCLA is 9-1 ATS versus Oregon; Washington is 5-1 ATS versus Arizona State. A NCAA picks battle between the Tigers and Vols used to mean something just within the state of Tennessee but tonight the entire nation will be watching with the #1 ranking in the country on the line here. No. 1 Memphis hosts No. 2 Tennessee - the 38th game between teams ranked Nos. 1 and 2 but only the fifth time the teams are from the same state. “These 1-2 matchups are usually reserved for Tobacco Road or some place in Indiana or Ohio,” Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl said Thursday. “And the fact that it’s in Tennessee is something that I think all high school basketball players and high school coaches and different folks that love basketball in the state of Tennessee are certainly proud of.” The Tigers (26-0) are putting their perfect record and the nation’s longest home-court winning streak at 47 games on the line. “Them. Us. Everybody in the state. It’s an ego game,” Memphis coach John Calipari said. “That game has been played up to a level that I can’t even begin to tell you.” It’s the game Tennessee didn’t want right now. The Vols (24-2) are trying to win the SEC title outright for the first time in 41 years. After Memphis comes an SEC East showdown with No. 20 Vanderbilt in Nashville followed by a visit from Kentucky and a trip to Florida. It’s the game Memphis needed right now. Calipari can use it to quiet critics who think his league schedule is too weak when it comes to NCAA tournament seeding. But he would prefer to keep the Vols, and Pearl, out of Memphis’ fertile recruiting territory by playing this game on neutral ground - Nashville, the midpoint between the schools. This will be the latest in the season these teams have met except for a 1990 NIT game, and credit for the timing goes to ESPN. The network is taking its “College Gameday” program to Memphis and couldn’t have gotten luckier with both schools off to their best starts. Memphis has been the unanimous No. 1 the past three weeks but is enjoying the top ranking for only the second time in school history. Tennessee had never been ranked higher than No. 4 before this season. “It’s a great game for the fans , for the student-athletes and students at both universities,” Pearl said. The rankings bring some spark to the rivalry between Tennessee, the state’s oldest college, and Memphis, the school derided by Volunteer fans as Tiger High in part for its start as a teachers’ school. The rivalry’s biggest moment to date came in football. Tigers fans still brag about beating Peyton Manning 21-17 in 1996, Tennessee’s lone loss in 21 games between the schools. You can bet Manning, who had to call on help to get tickets for Saturday’s game, will hear about it again from someone in the crowd. The Vols also lead 11-7 in basketball. They have won six of the last eight , including 76-58 last season in Knoxville. I have the answer in this game tonight as I will be releasing this as a top college basketball pick s tonight. Just like the New England Patriots this year Memphis comes into this game 26-0. Memphis Tigers have some history on their minds here as no college hoops team has won it all while going unbeaten since the 1976 Indiana Hoosiers . If they want to stay unbeaten they'll have to get past second-ranked Tennessee, which visits Memphis on Saturday night. It's only the fifth time in College Basketball picks history that same-state teams have battled it out with a #1 versus #2 scenario. As the Patriots discovered in the Super Bowl, perfection is elusive. Eighteen straight wins didn't mean a thing when New England lost to the New York Giants in a huge upset. I would like to see Memphis lose a game before the Tournament begins, because just like the Patriots all the way to lose that one game when it counts is devastating. Going 35-1 means nothing if you lose that one big game when it counts. But will this game be tonight? Or will it have to wait a little longer. Memphis is a 6 point favorite right now, this line will move by game time. The Tigers have won their last 47 home games - but it's last year's game Tennessee Crushed Memphis 76-58 so they have the revenge on there mind in this game. Also take note that Tennessee has won six of the last eight head-to-head hard-court battles. I have the answer in this game tonight as I will be releasing this as a top play tonight. Let me win for you in the biggest Game this College basketball season to date! Will I be taken the underdog or the favorite in this one? Find out!
