The Clemson Tigers always seem to be on the brink of doing something great, but always seem to be out of reach of getting there. The Clemson Tigers play their best college football in the underdog role. That is bad news for the Tigers this year, is they are the top candidate to win the college football ACC Championship. An early look at the college football betting odds for the ACC Championship shows the Clemson Tigers listed as +250 favorites at BodogLife.com. Several reasons exist in 2008 for the high expectations of the Clemson Tigers. The first being the rise of all star quarterback Cullen Harper. Many people did not even expect him to start last season. He ended up surpassing everyone’s expectations and he made the ACC second team. His numbers were very impressive last season and they only look to get better. Harper had 2991 passing yards with a completion rate of 65 percent and had a great touchdown to interception ratio at 27 to 6. Most of Harper's numbers were better than the ACC player of the year Matt Ryan. Cullen Harper is going to come out firing again this season as Clemson will look to have a great college football season. The Clemson Tigers have a great chance to win the ACC title and maybe even get to the national stage. The Clemson Tigers are listed at 22 to 1 odds to win the BCS National Championship. Cullen also has arguably the best tailback tandem in the entire nation in James Davis and C.J. Spiller. Last season Davis eclipsed the 1000 yard mark for his second consecutive season and once again will lead the way this year for the Clemson Tigers. Davis is capable of handling the load by himself but Spiller is an excellent compliment to the running game of the Clemson Tigers. On the defensive end of the ball the Clemson Tigers will return all 8 defensive starters. Clemson's defense only gave up 18.7 points per game and 306 yard last season. Their pass defense was sensational and corners Crezdon Butler and Chris Chancellor are back for another year. Also safeties Chris Clemons and Michael Hamlin are once again present to claim their starting positions. With all positions filled by seasoned players and ready to go, I like the Clemson Tigers to have a good run this year.
