This college football season the Virginia Tech Hokies are looking to have a good run in the ACC title. The Virginia Tech Hokies hope to come out of the gate hot and win their division this college football season. The Hokies have all the pieces to win the AFC Division in college football, they just need to focus and execute. Currently Oddsmakers at BodogLife.com have the Hokies as +250 favorites to win the ACC college football diivision.
The Virginia Tech Hokies sport a two quarterback system with Sean Glennon, who is a drop back passer and Tyrod Taylor who is a duel threat. He will have an offensive line that is going to return 4 starters and are ready to go. Glennon was 143/235 for 1786 yards in the air and had 12 touchdowns sharing the job with Taylor. Taylor was 72/134 with 5 touchdown passes of his own. His value lies in his ability to create plays out of nothing and turn a bad situation good. What Virginia Tech doesn’t have is a running back that has proven himself as an every down player. There is a host of many ball carriers on the Virginia Tech team, but I feel Taylor is the best and biggest threat to run the ball. The most accomplished receivers from last seasons Hokies team are, Greg Boone and Sam Wheeler. Between the two of them they had 26 receptions and 1 touchdown in last years college football season. Looking at the early ACC college football odds Virginia Tech is listed at 40:1 odds to win the BCS National Championship this year. In order to win the ACC college football division, the Hokies will need work on the defensive end of the ball, they will have to replace their top three tackles from last years college football season, as they are gone. I think that Kan Chancellor and linebacker Can Martin will pick up the slack for Virginia Tech. Also Orion Martin had 10.5 tackles for a loss and knocked down 5 passes last year. He will be a big part of the Hokies defense in 2008. The Virginia Tech Hokies will look to match their defense of last year, the Hokies were fifth in the nation against the run and third against scoring.
