College Football Picks: Tennessee at Auburn Betting Preview PDF Print E-mail
Written by Kosmo Philyako

Thursday, 25 September 2008

The Auburn Tigers will try and send Tennessee to their worst start in 14 years as they host the Volunteers on Saturday.  Tennessee has not played well this season and it doesn’t figure to get any easier on Saturday against the Tigers.  Auburn nearly pulled off the upset last week against LSU but lost 26-21 as LSU scored with just over a minute to go. "We took a major step forward. We played much better than we did last week," Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville said. "I was proud of the offense. At times, we started executing and we didn't have the crazy penalties that we had last week or the turnovers. We are not satisfied obviously with losing the game. That's hard fought." SBG Global reports that early College Football betting has the public taking Auburn at Home.

It's just a little bit harder road."  The Volunteers have not started 1-3 since 1994.

Auburn has won the last three meetings between the two teams although they have not met since 2004. ESPN Thursday Night Primetime: USC @ Oregon St PREVIEW (09-24-2008)
The #1 ranked USC Trojans travel north a bit to take on the Beavers of Oregon State on ESPN’s Prime-Time Thursday night battle. The spread for the college football picks matchup, as of this writing, shows USC favored by 26 points at Bodoglife.com .

This game kicks off PAC-10 play for the Trojans, as they have looked like world-beaters in their first two games (easily disposing of Virginia and The Ohio State. QB Mark Sanchez has looked the part of a Heisman candidate. He has a robust QB rating of 166 and has already thrown 7 touchdowns. He has plenty of weapons around him with RB’s Joe McKnight and CJ Gable along with wideouts Patrick Turner and Vidal Hazelton. The Trojans have lost just twice to Oregon State since 1966, with the Beavers pulling a shocking upset back in 2006. Head Coach Pete Carroll will surely remind his team of that upset, as well as last year’s awful performance against 41 point underdog Stanford.

The Beavers come into this game with their trademark slow start to the season. They lost a tough opening night game against Stanford. Then they ran into a buzz-saw against Penn State and got romped. They rebounded the next week to trounce a bad Hawaii team 45-7. The Beavers are lead by a decent QB in Lyle Moevao, who has a QB rating of 130 and is averaging 307 yards passing per game. Oregon State will need him to have a huge game if they want to keep this one close.

Now, down to the nitty-gritty bottom line! I would say that everyone out there will agree that USC wins this football game. However the main question is: WILL THEY COVER THE LARGE SPREAD? ??

Folks, I have the answer and can let you in on the winning side. I have a premium college football pick on this Primetime ESPN match-up that will win you the cash.

This Week in NFL and College Football - Sports Betting A to Z PDF Print E-mail
Written by Docs - T.O. Whenham

Wednesday, 24 September 2008
This Week in Betting, A to Z (09-23-2008) A - Anderson, Derek - A year ago the Cleveland Browns' QB and his team were one of the best stories in the league. Now it seems almost certain that his days as a starter, at least for now, are nearing an end. Anderson has been, in a word, brutal. He reached a new low this week against Baltimore, completing just 38 percent of his passes, with three picks and just one touchdown. Anderson looked confused and, frankly, nothing like an NFL QB. Which is fitting given that his team looks nothing like an NFL squad, either.

B - Buffaloes, Colorado - In my books, Dan Hawkins is ahead of schedule. His team beat a ranked West Virginia team, and they didn't make it look like a fluke, either. Of course, Colorado benefited from some of the worst clock management imaginable by West Virginia coach Bill Stewart. Colorado still has some work to do, but the highlight of watching them was freshman running back Rodney Stewart. This was a guy that no other BCS program besides Colorado wanted, yet he exploded for 166 yards.

C - Colts, Indianapolis. I'm trying not to take too much pleasure from it, but there's definitely something wrong in Indianapolis. Peyton Manning has played three games, and he has only looked like himself for one quarter out of 12. He's not right, Marvin Harrison is suddenly playing like someone's grandfather, and the team seems to have problems across the field. I'm not suggesting they won't make the playoffs or anything, but this sure isn't the team we've become used to.
