Washington Redskins NFC East 2008 NFL PredictionAs we review the Washington Redskins NFC East Betting Odds for 2008 we already know they made the playoffs last season.  They are bring everyone back basically from the previous year and added some depth on offense with the new wide receiver Devin Thomas out of Michigan State.  If the team continues on with the success they had last year, they will compete for a playoff spot in the NFC again.

First time Coach Jim Zorn is the Redskins sixth head coach since Daniel Snyder purchased the team in 1999.  He is the first heard coach to replace a hall of famer.  Joe Gibbs was a three time Superbowl champ.  How comfortable will quarterback Jason Campbell be in his first year running with Zorn's scheme, the third offense the quarterback has had to learn in four seasons.  Campbell's numbers under former offensive coordinator Al Saunders, 22 offensive touchdowns, 17 interceptions, 3,997 yards and a 77.6 passer rating- were solid but nothing more.  The oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com currently have Washington Redskins 50/1 to win the 2009 superbowl.

Zorn is the perfect coach for this experienced team.  People forget that Washington made the playoffs last year, and really don't need too much improvement.  Washington has lacked a big receiver for years now, now they have one with the addition of Devin Thomas.  Devin was drafted #34 in this year's draft out of Michigan State, and he is 6'2.  Rookies wide receivers haven't been that good over the past few years coming into the league, but Thomas is a good fit for the Redskins new offense.  They still have Antwaan Randle El, and Santana Moss to help the rookie.  They should put up a lot of points this year.  The oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com currently have Washington's Devin Thomas 20/1 to win the Rookie of the Year.

They have what it takes to compete with wide receivers, but it falls on the shoulder of quarterback Jason Campbell to get them the ball.  Campbell has a strong arm, he was solid in his first season with the team out of Auburn, before his injury in December where he had to sit out.  He is 26 years old and has now had 19 full NFL starts.  Campbell figures to benefit from the hiring of Zorn.  Campbell is a year wiser and I think the injury helped him focus on what he needs to be more successful.  Zorn will see to that!  The Skins have a good team, solid receivers, a-plus TE and RB, developing QB.  Too bad for the loss of Sean Taylor last year, after he was killed in the shooting, he was a Pro Bowler.  There was an upside though.  It fired up the team to make a playoff berth.  The oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com currently have Washington Redskins  7/1 odds to win the NFC East.
