The Detroit Red Wings have got out to a terrific start in the Stanley Cup Finals. They defeated the Pittsburg Penguins last night in NHL picks game 2 at home 3-0. They now are out to a commanding 2-0 series lead. The Wings have been red hot as of late and are playing some spectacular defense against a Penguins team who can’t seem to get any shots on net, let alone a goal. They have been shut out both games and have failed to register many shots on goal. The Wings defensive is suffocating and is managing to shut down key players like Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin.
Ever since the Red Wings decided to change goalies early on in the playoffs they have been lights out. Chris Osgood has been spectacular in this year’s playoffs. He has posted a steak of winning 9 consecutive playoff games. He has a total record of 10 wins and only 2 losses and he leads the league in goals against average at 1.60 per game. He also leads the league in save percentage at .931. Osgood is an absolute wall in goal and has proven almost impossible to beat. Currently Oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com have the Detroit Red Wings as +110 underdogs heading into game 3 on Thursday. On the other end of the puck, Henrick Zetteberg has been the Red Wings work horse. He leads the entire league in both points and goals. He has notched a ridiculas 12 goals so far and has 23 points in this years post season. With such superstars as Pavel Datsyuk and John Frazen by his side the Wings look almost unbeatable. Datsyuk is right behind Zetterberg in the race for points with 19 of his own and Franzen is tied atop the leader board for goals with 12. With all this firepower on their team, it’s not hard to see why Detroit is up 2-0 in the series and looks to win the Cup this year.
