The Detroit Red Wings jumped out to an early 1-0 game lead in their best of 7 NHL Playoff series against the Dallas Stars. On Thursday night the Red Wings dominated the NHL Playoff game and won it handily by a score of 4-1. The Wings were red hot on the power play with 3 goals from, Johan Franzen, Brian Fafalski and Tomas Holmstron.
Franzen is leading the Wings and is playing the best hockey of his career. He scored his 12th goal of the playoffs on Thursday and extended his scoring streak to 5 games. He has a total of 15 points in the NHL playoffs and is looking for more. The Wings dominated game 1 the entire time, whether on the power play, at full strength or even on the penalty kill. They were creating scoring chances all over the place. Detroit has won 7 straight playoffs games and they look almost impossible to defeat. Currently Oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com have the Red Wings as a -230 favorite heading into Saturday’s contest. Game 2 of this series will take place on Saturday night at Joe Louis Arena. The Dallas Stars are going to need to make some drastic changes if they want to even out the series. The Stars goaltender, Marty Turco is absolutely horrific in Detroit. He has a record of 0-8-2 in his NHL career there. Dallas upset both the defending Stanley Cup champion Anahiem Ducks and the 2nd seeded Sharks in their earlier series. Also, in both of its previous two playoffs rounds Dallas has come out strong and won both game 1 and 2 on the road. This did not happen in this series. They will need a combined team effort on Saturday if they look to stand a chance.
