The Pittsburgh Penguins find themselves in a deep 2-0 series hole. After losing badly in both games 1 and games 2 they need to rebound if they want to have any hope of winning the Stanley Cup. They have been outscored by a total of 7-0 in these first two games and can’t seem to put up any offence at all. Pittsburg is going to need a big game 3 at home if they want to have any shot of taking home the Stanley Cup.
The Penguins have had zero production out of their key superstars. Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin have been held scoreless and are being silenced by the defense and goaltending of Detroit. During the regular season these two players combined for 71 goals and 107 assists for a huge total of 178 points. In the playoffs Crosby has 21 points and Malkin is not far behind with 9 goals and 19 points of his own. These two are going to have to put up some offence and lead the Penguins in game 3. Currently Oddsmakers at Sportbetting.com have the Pittsburg Penguins as -130 favorites heading into game 3 on Thursday. The Penguins are also going to need Marc Andre Fluery to play as well as he did in the early rounds of the playoffs. He was sensational early on, but seems to be slumping against the high powered offence of the Red Wings. Fluery leads all playoffs goaltender with 12 wins. His goal’s against average of 1.93 is only second to Detroit’s Chris Osgood. He is going to have to win the goaltenders duel between the two. Also he is going to need some early goal support. The Penguins can easily bounce back in this series as they play much better at home. You never have to worry in the playoffs until you lose a game at home. This means that game 3 in a must win the Penguins. View NHL Betting Odds at OnlineSportsHandicapping.com before you bet on the NHL at Sportsbetting.com
