Euro 2008 odds: Can Germany Win it All This Year? Preview and Picks (06-09-08)The Euro 2008 has finally got underway.  It opened up on Saturday and it will last until the end of June.  There are a variety of different countries being represented in this year’s Euro 2008 odds.  Each nation has its strong points and weak points and many talented players.  There can only be one winner, and I think that it will be Germany this year.  They have one of the best squads out there and are one of the Euro 2008 odds favorites to take home the hardware this year.

Germany opened up the tournament on Saturday with an impressive 2-0 win over Poland.  They looked to be a much stronger team as they scored early in the 20th minute to claim a 1-0 lead.  Youngster and rising star Lukas Podolski had the first goal and Germany never looked back.  Poldolski plays for FC Bayern Munchen and has a very impressive resume.  He also notched Germany’s second goal to give them the 2-0 win.  Germany had a solid performance as their offence had no problems scoring and their defense looked very good.  Currently Oddsmakers at BodogLife.com have Germany as a 5:1 favorite to win Euro 2008.

Germany is a very experienced squad this year.  They have won the Euro 2008 a total of 3 times.  They won it in 1972, 1980 and 1996.  They have 67 wins, 29 draws and only 14 losses in Euro 2008 action.  Germany also has 224 goals scored and only 77 conceded.  This year they look to better that total and win it all.  At the last World Cup they lost in the finals.  Striker Miroslav Klose ended the tournament as the leading goal scorer, winning the Golden Shoe with five goals.  He was very impressive in the game against Poland this year.  Germany has a stacked team this year and I believe that they will take home the European Cup.

How to bet on Euro 2008 (06-06-08)If you’re a European sports fan you may want to know how to bet on Euro 2008. Learning how to bet on Euro 2008 can be an exciting experience as you reap the rewards of your winning Euro 2008 bets . There are several sportsbooks online that will allow you to wager on the outcome of Euro 2008 and other sports such as; baseball, basketball, football, hockey and soccer games, car races, mixed martial arts, boxing matches and other main stream sporting events. Currently the oddsmakers at BodogLife.com have several prop bets and Euro 2008 future bets for you start the learning process.

Knowing your sport and what has lead up to an event like the Euro 2008, you can beat the oddsmakers and increase your bankroll at the same time. After you gather your information and bet on the Euro 2008 it will make the outcome much more exciting.

The sportsbook is where you actually place your wager in this article I am using BodogLife.com as our sportsbook since they have a wide range of betting options for the Euro 2008. Many sportsbooks including Bodog allow you to place your wager online or by phone and create the betting markets of a particular event such as Euro 2008.

There are also several types of wagers you can make when learning including straight bets, parlays, teasers and over/unders.

Straight bets are the most common sports bets. When you place a straight bet , you simply pick the team that will win or lose the game.

The money line bet which Oddsmakers don't set a point spread for the game. Instead, they set a money line, which gives odds that one team will beat another.

And then you have a total wager which is a bet on the combined number of points scored in the game by both teams. When you learn how to bet on Euro 2008 you can also wager on whether the teams will score more or less points than the line.

Compared to fixed odds, with the Asian Handicap you eliminate the possibility of a draw result, increasing your main winning chance from 33.3% to 50% in a single game. If a quarter handicap game ends with a tie result, and you fail to win your bet, you only lose 50% of your wager. Depending on the handicap you can win your wager even if the team you wager on does not win the game. You can bet on a team you believe will lose the game but because of a big handicap you can still win the bet. Typical here is when the favorite team wins the game with only one goal. When following the match 'live', tension is high since a single goal can take you from losing to winning (or the other way around) and functions similar to a point spread.

0:0 Handicap
If there are no favorite the handicap will be set to 0:0.There will not be given a head start of a handicap for any team. No handicap will be added to the real number of goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo favorite to win Euro 2008 Top Goal Scorer (06-05-08)The Euro 2008 is set to get underway on Saturday June 7th.  The host nations will be Austria and Switzerland and they hope for a good showing this weekend.  Everyone is excited and many people are wondering who is going to win and also who is going to be the top goal scorer of the Euro 2008.  There are many gifted and talented players this year and some names that come to mind are Fernando Torres, Cristiano Ronaldo and Miroslav Klose.  It is important to remember that a player that is going to play the most games is going to get a chance to score more Euro 2008 goals.  The one name that jumps out in the Euro 2008 is the Portuguese favorite, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Cristiano Ronaldo has had an excellent year so far.  He plays for Manchester United in the English Premier league and scored 42 goals with their squad.  Also, in each and every single qualifying game for Portugal in the Euro 2008, he managed to score a goal and played magnificently in doing so.  He seems to be maturing very quickly and played well in his World Cup debut 2 years ago.  He has a great career ahead of him as he is only 23 years old.  Currently Oddmakers at BodogLife.com have Cristiano Ronaldo as a 8:1 favorite to win top goal scorer of the Euro 2008.

He is a winner of the 2007 English PFA Player of the Year and the Young Player of the Year award.  He was third in voting for the 2007 Player of the Year award and is regarded as one of the most talented soccer players of his generation.  Also, this year, 2008 he again won the English PFA Player of the Year and English PFA Player of the Year, giving him impressive back to back victories of both awards.  He is going to be a force to be reckoned with in this years Euro 2008 as many believe he will take home the top scorer award.

2007 Chelsea Facing Injury Concerns (10-20-07)
Chelsea captain John Terry will be out of action for up to three weeks after undergoing knee surgery. Terry didn’t get the operation immediately so he could play in England's Euro 2008 qualifier against Russia. That decision turned out to be a poor one as England lost and now may miss out on next year’s tournament. Chelsea will also be without left-back Ashley Cole who injured his ankle during England's win over Estonia last Saturday.

SBG Global Betting Line: Chelsea -1, Total 2 over -155

SBG Global Three Way Line: Chelsea -160, Middlesbrough +375, Draw +225

Chelsea coach Avram Grant is trying to get his team ready for Saturday's match at Middlesbrough. "JT (John Terry) had an operation today and will be out for two or three weeks. Cole and (Salomon) Kalou) are also injured.
"John tried his best to be available for the national team and then in the last moment of training he got injured again. He needed the operation today and I hope everything will be well. Chelsea is not a one-man team but JT is important for the team. I don't want him to be injured but it has happened and there is a big squad to play and win games without him, although I prefer to do it with him."

It is a trying time for Chelsea after Jose Mourinho left last month and with news that Didier Drogba is intending to leave. "I know that it is not the first time that he said it but I haven't seen him yet," Grant said, "I can't tell you anything before I speak with him. I can't tell you something because I read it in the paper. I need to discuss it with him. I have read many things that were not true, because I was on the inside, about problems in the dressing room.”
