United States Under-17 Team in Second Round The U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team is in the Round of 16 of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup. They defeated Belgium 2-0 in their third and final Group E match to advance to the second round. Kirk Urso and Mykell Bates had the goals for the United States. With Tunisia’s victory over Tajikistan, the U.S. went from fourth to second in the group and will now play Germany who finished first in Group F on Thursday. This is the third straight time the U.S. has advanced to the second round at the FIFA U-17 World Cup. “We’re very happy, and we’ve accomplished our first goal, which was to get out of our group,” said U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team head coach John Hackworth. “We had moments in our two previous games that were pretty good, but we didn’t do well for 90 minutes in those games. Today we stuck to our game plan throughout and didn’t get rattled by anything.” Soccer Betting at SBG Global Bates now leads the team in scoring for the tournament with two goals. “The team right now is relieved to have played well tonight, but we know we still have work to do in this tournament,” said Bates. “We’re going to relax and enjoy this win tonight, and then it’s back to work.” Bet on Soccer at Sbgglobal.com |

The Los Angeles Galaxy may have one of soccer’s biggest stars in David Beckham but so far he has not helped them win any games. The Galaxy lost 3-0 to Chivas USA Thursday night at home, despite the fact that Beckham played all 90 minutes of the game. Soccer Betting at SBG Global Beckham played all 90 minutes in England's 2-1 loss to Germany in a friendly on Wednesday, then flew to Los Angeles Thursday and played the full game for the Galaxy. Los Angeles has lost all three MLS games Beckham has played in. The Galaxy is winless in their last six games and has an overall record of 3-9-5 and is not looking good to make the playoffs. The Galaxy remains 12 points behind the Columbus Crew for the final MLS playoff spot. Bet on Soccer at Sbgglobal.com |

MLS Playoff Race Update With two months remaining in the MLS regular season the playoff race is heating up. Currently five Eastern Conference teams are in position to qualify for the MLS Playoffs which would mean a spot would be taken away from the Western Conference where only three teams would qualify. That can change in the final two months though, especially with teams like Los Angeles and Real Salt Lake having the most games left to play. The two conference leaders, the New England Revolution and the Houston Dynamo, have played the most games in the MLS so far this season. Each of those two teams has just eight games left. Conversely, the Galaxy has 14 games remaining while Real Salt Lake and Chivas USA each have 12 games left to play. Bet on New England Revolution at SBG Global Bet on Soccer at Sbgglobal.com |

Beckham Questionable for England Soccer Betting Preview David Beckham will be part of the England team for their friendly on Wednesday against Germany but it is uncertain whether or not he will play. Beckham made his first Major League Soccer start on Saturday and played the entire game as the Los Angeles Galaxy lost 5-4 to the New York Red Bulls. Bet on Odds to Win Euro 2008 at SBG Global. Beckham had two assists in the game but was seen limping on his left ankle at times. It remains to be seen whether he will be fit enough to play on Wednesday against Germany. "Only time will tell," he said. "I've got to see how it is on Sunday. It's swollen up at the moment but that was always going to happen. I'm traveling to London on Sunday morning to meet up with the team and hopefully I'll be playing some sort of role on Wednesday." "I was surprised to actually play 90 minutes," Beckham said. "The manager and the coaching staff kept asking me if I wanted to come off. But I'm quite a stubborn person on and off the field. When we were winning I didn't want to come off and when we were losing I didn't want to come off. I think my stubbornness took over and I didn't want to come off the pitch."
