What I'm going to do here is something I did for years when I was an editorial consultant for USA Network's "Tuesday Night Fights," which is to break down this matchup along statistical lines. It also offers something of a capsule if you don't wish to go line-by-line on each one of the records of these fighters. When it comes to betting the propositions at BetUS Sportsbook , this is the kind of information that may be of some use to you.

COMMON OPPONENTS JOSE LUIS CASTILLO -- Mayweather defeated Castillo twice. In April of 2002 he won a unanimous decision by four points on two of the judges' scorecards and five points on the other, but it was considered very controversial because many at ringside felt Castillo had the advantage. In the December 2002 rematch, Mayweather won by two points on all three cards. On June 23 of this year, in his last fight, Hatton stopped Castillo at 2:19 of the fourth round in a fight where it looked as if Castillo was looking for a safe place to land. It basically ended on a body shot. TONY PEP -- In March of 2001, Hatton stopped Pep, a Canadian, in four rounds to win the World Boxing Union's vacant welterweight title. Pep was Mayweather's last opponent before Floyd won his first world title. In June of 1998, Mayweather scored an easy, near-shutout decision over ten rounds. |
