Although all were blowouts, including the NCAA game, we hope you enjoyed the big football feast on Thanksgiving Day…now on to the big weekend card.
A lot of rivalry games fill the college football sked with Texas and Texas A&M getting things started on Thursday, as mentioned (the Longhorns covered as 35.5-point favorites in a 49-9 win).
The next two days will see more college football rivals going head to head, including the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the USC Trojans on Saturday.
The rivalry might not be as heated as it once was but try telling that to fans in Southern California or South Bend. The two teams have met 79 times with the Irish holding the overall edge with a 42-32-5 record.
The Trojans go into this matchup ranked fifth in the BCS and still have an outside shot at the BCS title game, although their chances are slim; Sportsbook.com has the Trojans listed as steep 32-point home favorites.
While ND has the edge lifetime, it hasn’t done well in the last 13 games against the Trojans going 4-9 SU and ATS and has dropped the last six consecutive games vs. USC straight up and gone 1-5 ATS in the same time.
The Irish haven’t done well as big underdogs the last six years going 4-16 SU and 7-13 ATS when underdogs of more than 8-points, however they’ve gone 4-16 on the Over/Under in the same time.
On top of that Notre Dame has gone 1-5 SU and ATS the last six visits to Los Angeles.
The betting public is aware of the Irish’s lack of luck at the betting window lately and 81% of the betting volume is coming in on USC.
Another chapter in the Bedlam Series between the No. 3 Oklahoma Sooners and the No. 12 Oklahoma State Cowboys is set to be written on Saturday. The visiting Sooners are favored by a TD.
The Sooners should be motivated for this game as a Big 12 South title and a possible BCS title berth are on the line.
Oklahoma has been Jekyll and Hyde-ish when visiting Oklahoma State, going 4-2 SU in its last six games at Boone Pickens Stadium but 2-4 ATS.
Bettors know that Oklahoma is motivated and also has Heisman hopeful Sam Bradford lining up behind center and 78% of the betting action is going the Sooners’ way.
