 Who doesn’t love a good college football picks rivalry? If having the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns going head-to-head this weekend wasn’t enough, the game could also have major BCS implications; the first rankings of the year will be released on October 19. The Big 12’s version of the Red Sox-Yankees, Habs-Bruins and Cowboys-Redskins is set for this Saturday with the No. 5 Longhorns playing the No. 1 Sooners at the neutral Cotton Bowl in Dallas; Sportsbook.com has Oklahoma listed as a 6.5-point college football picks favorite and they has the Sooners and Longhorns listed at +225 and +1200 respectively to win the 2009 BCS championship.
The Longhorns lead the overall series with a record of 57–40–5 straight up, but the Sooners hold the edge more recently, going 7-5 SU since 1996 and the two are even against the spread at 6-6, also since 1996.
Texas has gone 2-1 SU and 3-0 ATS in the last three games.
Oklahoma won last year’s college football picks contest 28-21 but failed to cover as a 12-point favorite and in the Sooners’ last 20 games where they were favored by 8 or less, they have a record of 15-5 SU and 12-8 ATS.
The Longhorns are 10-8 SU and 10-7-1 ATS in the last 18 contests where they were underdogs of 8-points or less.
The betting public seems pretty divided about which team will grab the green in this year’s tilt as only a slight majority (55%) of the action is going the way of the Oklahoma Sooners.

The betting public is hip to the Tigers’ recent failures in Gainesville as 77% of the college football picks action is coming in on Florida.
While the majority of people in the state of Oklahoma will have their eyes on the Cotton Bowl, there will be another game featuring a school from the state as the No. 17 Oklahoma State Cowboys face the No. 3 Missouri Tigers with oddsmakers favoring the Tigers by close to two TDs, 13.5-points to be exact.
The Cowboys haven’t fared well against the Tigers only winning one game out of the last six (1-5) both SU and ATS.
In the last seven games between the two in the month of October, Missouri has the edge going 5-2 SU and ATS.
