The Boston College Eagles will look to have another quality season this year in the ACC college football division. Their coach, Jeff Jagodzinski led them to a record of 11-3 last year and also took them to the ACC Championship game during his first year. He was hired into a pretty good situation, but will have to deal with a couple of losses this year. The Eagles will be missing star quarterback Matt Ryan who was drafted in the NFL, as well as a couple quality running backs and several good players in the secondary. I still think that Boston College has enough talent to make another run at the college football ACC Championship if they stay focused and poised. College football ACC division oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com have the Boston College Eagles at +2500 odds to win the ACC. Boston College has many notable advantages on both sides of the ball. They will return a front 7 that is extremely talented and experienced. Kevin Atkins, Robert Francois, Mike McLaughlin and Mark Herzlich all return after having a very good 2007 seasons at linebacker. Also the return of Brian Toal, who sat out last season because of injury, will help Boston College a great deal. The Eagles could turn out to have one of the best linebacker cores in the ACC. Oddmakers at Sportsbook.com have the Eagles at 100:1 to win the BCS National Championship. A big concern for them is going to be new quarterback Chris Crane. He has some big shoes to fill and has only thrown for 40 colligate passes in his young career. If Crane is to stumble early on, then there will be many options to replace him. Red shirt freshman Dominique Davis will be ready for his opportunity. Also if the QB’s struggle it will put a lot a pressure on the running back. Freshman RB, Josh Haden may be starting from day one if he gets comfortable with the system. The bottom line for Boston College is that they have an amazing defense. They were second in the nation in rush defense last season. They will just need to get it done on the offensive end of the ball if they hope to be successful.
