As we review the Purdue Boilermakers odds for 2008 we already know that this is coach Joe Tiller's final season. Purdue is going to have a great offense again, will they play with high emotion for Tiller in his final season?
Coach Joe Tiller is entering his final year as head coach at Purdue, this will be is 12th season with the team. His career record is 122-84-1. He has gone to 10 bowl games with the team since joining. Tiller needs only two victories to become the program's winningest coach. The question is will Tiller go out with a bang, with a big Bowl game at the end of the season? It doesn't matter as he has had a great Purdue career as the head coach. The Big 10 odds at Bodoglife.com currently have Purdue 12/1 to win the Big 10 conference. Curtis Painter could be the top quarterback in the Big 10 this season. In 2006, Painter threw 22 touchdowns, but he also had 19 interceptions. Last season, he threw 29 touchdowns but had only 11 picks. In 2006 he had two games where he passed for over 400 yards in a game. He took over the QB duties second half of their 2005 disappointing season. Painter is the best returning starter among Big Ten quarterbacks. The strong-armed senior will go down as one of the top quarterbacks in school history. I'm looking for him to have the best season of his career, and become the Big 10's all time leading passer. The Big 10 odds at Bodoglife.com currently have Curtis Painter 60/1 to win the Odds to win the 2008 Heisman Trophy. Painter will need a guy to be able to throw to. Wide receiver Greg Orton is going to be their go to guy through out the season. He is a receiver with experience, has caught 125 passes the past two seasons. Purdue returns six starters on each side of the ball and is without a number of playmakers on offense. Besides Orton they need to find another playmaker for Painter to throw the ball to. They have a great one- two punch at running back with Jaycen Taylor and Kory Sheets. Defense is going to be solid in the front seven. If they are going to make it to a big bowl game this year with a big pay day they must get a win on the road vs Ohio State. The bad news is Purdue has lost 14 straight game to ranked teams. They lost to Ohio State last season 23-7 and they punted 12 times, tying a single game record. Get the latest BIG 10 and CFB betting odds in real time from the internet’s best online sportsbooks.
