Week 3 College Football Picks Georgia Tech vs Virginia Tech: The Yellow Jackets have started the season off 2-0, with a huge win last week against Boston College on the road 19-16.  QB Nesbitt completed 6-of-13 passes for 73 yards, and he also ran for a 1 yard TD.  "Our quarterback played well for us, once we stopped turning the ball over," said Paul Johnson, who is the first Georgia Tech coach ever to win in his first Atlantic Coast Conference game. "I thought he made some great plays today.  Some of our best plays were him scrambling, or taking it himself."  Now the Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech travel to Blacksburg to take on the Virginia Tech Hokies.  Head coach Paul Johnson’s spread attack sputtered and wheezed at Boston College, with only 12 first downs, 235 yards and three lost fumbles.  Johnson will face the biggest test of his young ACC career here at Blacksburg.  The Oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com currently have Virginia Tech -7 favorites to Georgia Tech heading into this matchup with the total at 38 points. 

Hokies are 1-1 to start the season off, opening week they lost to up and coming East Carolina team 27-22 as -9 favorites.  Last week they had it easy beating up on Furman 24-7.  The Hokies have struggled on offense, the O-lines play has been weak, and Coach Beamer has been forced to use 2 QBs, Tyrod Taylor and Sean Glennon.  While Virginia Tech had success on the ground last week, the Hokies had only 68 yards in the air, Glennon had 42 and Sorrells threw for 213 yards.  While the defense and special teams have been solid, it may not be enough to overcome the problems on offense.  They have cashed in the past five in this series.  The Hokies are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing less than 275 total yards in their previous game.  Also note that V Tech was only up 3-0 in the 3rd quarter over Furman last week.

College Football Picks: Georgia Tech is coming off of a good win on the road over Boston College.  But it's the defense that wins games for this team, same as the Hokies.  VTech is going to have to show us some better play on offense before we should lay 7 against a strong opponent that has shown the ability to win on the road.  Here is a stat though for this game, when a new heard coach in game 3 of the season coming off a SU win as underdog playing an oppoenet of the road coming off a win by 7 or more points are just 1-11 ATS.  Ohio State/USC Top play is Guaranteed to win Saturday or you will receive my plays for 3 months check out my College Football Picks Page.
