Week 3 College Football Picks Ohio State vs Southern California: The Buckeyes are ranked #3 in the land coming into this game and are 2-0 on the season.  They did have a scare last week in their 26-14 win over Ohio.  They weren't happy after the game with their play.  "That was pathetic. It was a pathetic performance," Buckeyes wide receiver Brian Hartline said after the Buckeyes rallied in the fourth quarter for 26-14 win over plucky Ohio, a 33 1/2-point underdog. "OU should've won the game.  I don't know how we came out with it."  My option is that people shouldn't be worried about the performance against Ohio, they were looking ahead to USC, and Ohio playing as hard as possible against what they probably perceived as the "Evil Empire".   Everyone has a bad day against inferior competition sometimes, just look at USC-Stanford last year.  Last time OSU pl ayed against a QB with so little expeirence in a big game they won. If this game was last week USC would have been favoroite  by 6 or 7 points, but with the bad performance last week from OU the line has jumped 12 and 13 at some places.  This is still a very experienced Buckeyes team, and one of the top teams in the country.  "The only way we can be successful on the road at Southern Cal is be at our best, I mean, there's no way that we can do it if we're not at our best," Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel said. "So I think all of us in the whole locker room recognized after the (Ohio) game that we weren't at our best."  The Oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com currently have USC -12 favorites to Ohio State heading into this matchup with the total at 44.5 points.

USC has just played one game so far this season and won against Virginia 52-7.  Sanchez threw three touchdown passes in his first game as the Trojans' true No. 1 quarterback.  USC has covered the spread 8 of there last 9 games out side Pac-10 play, with the only spread loss coming as a 47-point favorite.  I wouldn't worry too much about the Trojan Defense.  USC's backups would be starters for any other program in the nation.  Mark Sanchez, did beat out a former SEC starting quarterback, Mitch Mustain, for the USC starting position.  Some people say for USC that home field advantage means nothing after they lost last year at home to Stanford as huge favorites near 40 points.  But you have to remember that OSU lost to Illinois 28-20 while USC beat Illinois 49-17 last season.  The Trojans have certainly owned this series, winning five straight games while outscoring the Bucks by an incredible 91- 6 margin.  Over is 11-4 in USC last 15 non-conference games.

College Football Predictions: USC had an extra week to prepare for this game after season opener blow out win at Virginia on Aug. 30.  Last week OU offense was definitely ugly, especially not running the ball well.  Trojans have the advantage at head coach with Pete Carroll.  OU Tressell is a great coach, don't get me wrong, but he needs to learn to go for it once in a while!  If it comes to 4th down and inches he will kick it even if the game is on the line.  If the punt is the most important play in football, how are special teams always associated with Frank Beamer (Va Tech) and not Jim Tressell?  Under is 7-1 in Trojans last 8 games after allowing less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game.  Ohio State/USC Top play is Guaranteed to win Saturday or you will receive my plays for 3 months check out my College Football Picks Page.
