Tulsa Golden Hurricanes vs Houston Cougars College Football Picks: In a pivotal late-season Conference USA college football picks matchup, the 25th-ranked Tulsa Golden Hurricane visit Robertson Stadium for a clash with the Houston Cougars. Points figure to come in bunches with these two high-flying offenses, and the winner would pave themselves a nice road to the college football picks conference championship game. "This is a big game," Tulsa head coach Todd Graham said on Monday. "This game will be a determining factor in who represents the (C-USA West Division). Naturally, it's a game that we have to be successful in." Tulsa is coming off its first loss of the season two weeks ago at Arkansas, 30-23. The Golden Hurricane had a bye last week, which came at a perfect time to allow the team to rejuvenate, both physically and mentally. Still, this will be one of the toughest matchups of the season for the Golden Hurricane, who'll wrap up their schedule with Tulane and Marshall in the coming weeks. Houston has a 4-1 conference mark and is right on Tulsa's heels in the West. The Cougars have won two of their last three meetings with Tulsa, and they've won 12 of their last 13 home games. They looked as sharp as ever last week against Tulane, coasting to a 42-14 victory. Houston winds down its schedule against Texas-El Paso and Rice in the next two weeks. That's a scary statement, considering Tulsa continues to lead the nation in both total offense (593 ypg) and scoring (52 ppg). For the last two weeks, the offense has had to deal with the fact that they had a chance to send the game into overtime against Arkansas, but could not do it. Trailing by seven with three minutes to play, the defense came up with a big interception in the end zone. Tulsa took the ball and drove 73 yards in eight plays, but was stopped at the Arkansas four-yard line. Tulsa's 23 points scored was a season-low. Quarterback David Johnson completed 17-of-31 passes for 322 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Charles Clay finished with seven catches for 117 yards and a touchdown. He also scored on a 28-yard run in the second quarter. Johnson's yardage totals were on par with his season average (331 ypg), but he is accustomed to throwing more touchdowns. On the season, Johnson is completing 66.7 percent of his passes and has thrown 33 touchdowns, with 10 interceptions. Tarrion Adams has been a nice option out of the backfield, with 688 rushing yards (5.5 ypc) on the season.
