Can the hapless Dolphins win one for the '72 Dolphins today? Webster defines perfect as "being entirely without fault or defect. Only one team in the history of the NFL has been "perfect." That team is the 1972 Miami Dolphins. Over the last 35 years, we have seen several teams come close and this year we have a team that has come the closest so far; the New England Patriots. The Pats are 14-0 on the year. When you consider their schedule which included visits to Dallas and Indianapolis, being undefeated up to this point is a feat in itself. With a win today, they will inch closer to history. Standing in their way? The Miami Dolphins. 4:15pm TV: CBS Miami is coming off it's first win of the year last week beating Baltimore in OT 22-16. You'd think they won the Super Bowl with the way they celebrated that win. A win today would mean even more to the franchise. Every year the 1972 Dolphins pop the champagne at the point in the year when the last undefeated team posts a loss. The champagne would taste even better today given that it would be the Dolphins who would cost the Patriots their perfect season. If you were to ask the Pats about their season, they will tell you that they don't think about it. "Never. Maybe we're not human, maybe that has something to do with it," joked Brady, among eight Patriots named to the Pro Bowl this week. New England could look to run the ball today coming off their 131 yard performance last week. Miami's run defense is allowing a league-worst 155.9 yards per game. The Dolphins have given up at least 163 rushing yards in three straight games. The once mighty Patriots have looked beatable over the last few weeks as 4 of their last 6 wins have been decided by 10 or less. A far cry from their first 8 games where they won each game by at least 21 points. The books seem to think New England is going to win this one in a walk, as they are 22 point favorites on most books. Here are some things to consider: The home team is 12-4 L16 ATS in this series and Miami are just 3-7 ATS in thier last 10 against the Pats. However, New England's only losses in its last 21 December games both came against the Dolphins, but each of those defeats were in Miami. The Dolphins have won only once in their last six trips to Foxboro.
