There was a concern that Big Brown missed 3 days of training this past week. Ian McKinlay inserted steel sutures into the hoof Monday to pull the crack together and changed them Saturday.  Big Brown is going for the Triple Crown on June 7th after winning the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes.  "The little crack looks like it's in pretty good shape," Dutrow said from Belmont Park. "It's not bugging the horse in any kind of way. Ian is very happy with it. We're right on course, right on target."

Trainer of Big Brown, Rick Dutrow, Jr. recently said "I have to think if he ever gets the lead in the Belmont the race is going to be over, I can't see any horse coming up and catching him."  I don't know why Dutrow doesn't shut up already.  He is always talking like this since the Derby, he has something to say daily.  Well, it's one thing to be confident, but confidence alone won't win the race.  The race still needs to be run. What if Big Brown stumbles in the gate like War Emblem?  (According to Dutrow, Big Brown could give the field a ten second head start and still mow them down!)  We all get it Dutrow, you think Big Brown is going to win.  Stop using the natural ability of your horse to get yourself some face time.

If you think about it from Dutrow's point of view - if you had trained a racehorse who easily won the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness, how could you NOT think that horse was above and beyond all others?  If I was him, yes I would think I'm the best, but I would not go to the media and say that on a daily basis.  I've seen this happen many time in football where a team just talks trash all week long and should win the game easily, being double digits favorites and lose the game outright.  Big Brown will be a huge favorite on Saturday and he is going to have to cash the ticket for his trainer.  A lot of people now want Big Brown to lose the triple crown after what trainer Dutrow has been saying.  Don't hold a grudge against a horse because his trainer is supremely confident.  Don't wish for Big Brown to get hurt or to lose simply because you don't like what Dutrow says.
