What a shocker to say the least as the results of the Belmont Stakes unfolded, Da Tara Wins at 38 to 1 odds . Heavy favorite Big Bown held up after the 1/2 mile mark by jockey Kent Desormeaux. According to reports by trainer Rick Dutrow Jr. Big Brown was not injured, he was held up at the start and may have stumbled or slipped out of the gate. The coveted Triple Crown remains elusive for yet another year. Da Tara wins the Belmont Stakes with an amazing wire to wire result to spoil the Triple Crown run of Big Brown . Da Tara's career record is record: 7-2-2-1. His most recent race prior to the Belmont Stakes was on 5/17, the Barbaro Stakes held at Pimlico Racecourse on Preakness day. He finished 2nd that day getting beat by the favored Roman Emperor. On another previous outing on 3/29 Da Tara raced against Big Brown in the Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park. He finished 9th with long odds of 65 to 1 and which resulted in a 19 length dismal loss. What a day of thoroughbred racing, I’m already looking forward to next year to see who will attempt Triple Crown glory . Belmont Stakes results paid: Da' Tara, with odds of 38-1, paid $79.80 on a $2 bet to win, $28 to place and $14.80 to show. Denis of Cork paid $5.40 and $4.10 for his second-place finish. Both Anak Nakal and Ready's Echo will pay $7.60 for thier third-place finish.
