Triple Crown pick and Kentucky Derby winner Big Brown won the 133rd Preakness Stakes in explosive style here Saturday to set up a date with destiny at the Belmont Stakes.  Big Brown charged to the lead turning for home and then cruised down the stretch to win, still perfect and squarely pointed toward thoroughbred racing's first Triple Crown in 30 years. Jockey Kent Desormeaux said after the race "I looked between my legs, under my arms, and they were eight [lengths] behind me,"  "I stopped pushing.  I said, That's enough ".   While Big Brown definitely was the best horse on the track today, let's keep in mind that he was racing against third-tier horses.  All of the Kentucky Derby horses took this one off to get rested for the Belmont.  It thrills me that Big Brown won this race, because now some of the hype about Eight Belles can go away, and we can concentrate on Big Brown being the amazing horse he is, with the chance to be the guaranteed Triple Crown pick.  Big Brown only ran hard for about three strides in the whole race, and that was all he needed.  His acceleration is simply amazing.

People are saying Big Brown will win the triple crown easily on Belmont day June 7th.  People were also talking about Funny Cide the same way after he won the Preakness by 10 lengths.  No crown for him either.  Can we please stop crowning this horse now!  Can Big Brown do what these horses failed to do before we make him the second coming of Secretariat?  There was the same hype for these horses as well at the time:
