The Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner Big Brown suffered a slight quarter crack on the inside part of his left front foot, but trainer and owner say that this shouldn't affect his ability to run in the Belmont Stakes on June 7th. Big Brown has missed two days of training at Belmont Park, and will miss at least several more. "We're all concerned because there's a big race coming up," trainer Rick Dutrow Jr. was quoted as saying by the Associated Press. "But Ian has us pretty well relaxed. He's telling me it's nothing and he'll be fine in a few days."
PETA will have their heads if he has a leg injury and has to be put down like Eight Belles. There is no way the owners would be willing to race the horse if there is any added risk of an injury that would force Big Brown to be put down. Even if he doesn't win the Triple Crown, he's still worth millions of dollars, I hear he could get 80 to 90 million for stud. They won't flush that money down the toilet just for a chance at winning the Triple Crown. But then again Trainer Dutrow is known for juicing his horses, getting suspended all the time and he might do anything it takes to win this race. Dutrow's a dirty trainer. Here come the illegal drugs. This trainer doesn't care about the well being of this horse. He obviously wants the crown. Now, if something happens in the Belmont and Big Brown gets hurt...shame on them. The worst thing that could happen in horse racing is if Big Brown is hurt and they still race him and then he get's injured on the track. If he had to be euthanized, PETA would have a field day. Not running due to injury may even work out better for Big Brown. Considering he's already won the first two legs of the Triple Crown. If he doesn't run, he'll retire undefeated and will be the discussion of a Triple Crown that could have been, without having to worry about losing.
