The Cubs will send Rich Hill to the mound while Houston goes with Troy Patton. SBG Global reports that early betting has the public taking the favored Cubs on the Road.

Chicago Cubs at Houston Astros
Wednesday, 8:05 pm Eastern – WGN

SBG Global Opening Line: Cubs -130, Total 9 Over (-115)

Hill comes into the game at 8-8 with an ERA of 4.02 on the season.
He struggled in his last start against Pittsburgh giving up six runs on nine hits. "It wasn't a very good outing," Hill said, "Take it and move on. I made some good pitches that got hit."

Patton has not started since September 1st for Houston but did work a scoreless inning in relief last Friday. He has lost his first two starts of his career even though his ERA is good. He allowed just two earned runs in six innings against the Cubs in one of those starts.

The Cubs have adjusted their rotation for this week as Steve Trachsel will go on three days' rest Thursday while Carlos Zambrano will get an extra day and go Friday against the St. Louis Cardinals. Trachsel threw only 47 pitches over two innings Sunday against Pittsburgh and gave up six runs on six hits. The Cubs could have gone another route but decided to stick with Trachsel for the finale on Thursday against the Astros. "I don't think we really have much choice," manager Lou Piniella said, "He didn't throw many pitches yesterday in Pittsburgh, so it's not like he pitched six or seven innings." Zambrano is 2-0 with a 2.03 ERA against the Cardinals this year so the Cubs wanted him to pitch on Friday. Ted Lilly and Sean Marshall will start for the Cubs in Saturday's day-night doubleheader and Jason Marquis will finish the series Sunday. It doesn’t get any easier for the Cubs as Piniella said Zambrano and Lilly will come back on three days' rest for the series against Cincinnati. “To get everything back on track, we'll have to bring both [Zambrano and Lilly] on three days' rest.” Piniella said, "Our pitchers are fairly fresh," Piniella said. "We've watched their pitch counts all summer. we've got enough pitchers now with all these callups that if somebody's struggling or we have a big lead -- which we haven't had -- we can shorten somebody up."

SBG Global Current Line: Cubs -130, Total 9 Over (-115)

The Cubs have struggled in September. Heading into Tuesday’s action they were just 4-5 and batting .265. The pitchers have a 5.81 ERA this month.
"The starting pitching hasn't been all that good the past two weeks or so," Piniella said. "We've had some sporadic work where we get a good game. The guys who have pitched the best have been Lilly and Marquis. We need a little more consistency. They're capable of it. Everybody goes through little slumps. I'm not overly concerned."
