The Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs wrap up their important National League Central series on Thursday as Manny Parra faces Ted Lilly. The Brewers are going with Parra who is 0-1 with a 3.09 ERA. It will be only his second Major League start. He is going in place of Yovani Gallardo. "It's a different look, somebody that they don't know," Brewers manager Ned Yost said. "We're playing all our division now, and they've seen our guys. They don't know [Parra], a guy throwing 93 [mph] with a nice breaking ball." The Cubs will counter with Ted Lilly who is 13-7 and has an ERA of 3.85. SBG Global reports that early betting has the public taking the favored Cubs at home.
The Cubs struggle against lefthanders as they are 12-20 against left-handed starters this season. Parra's only other start was July 28 at St. Louis where we went six innings and allowed allowing three runs, one of them earned.
The Cubs go with Ted Lilly who has not pitched nearly as well as he did early in the season. Lilly did pitch well against the Diamondbacks in his last start but in his previous two starts he had given up 11 runs.

The Cubs did get Alfonso Soriano back in the starting lineup on Tuesday. Although he went 0-4 it was still a lift for the Cubs. "In Arizona and San Francisco, we asked Alfonso to do everything a baseball player needs to do on the field, from hitting to running to fielding to stopping to throwing and he's ready to go," Cubs manager Lou Piniella said. "By us holding him back a week or 10 days, it's not going to make it any safer for his return."
Ryan Theriot moved to the No. 2 spot in the lineup. "The most potent and dangerous leadoff hitter in the game is on our team," Theriot said. "Why would I want to mess with that?" The Cubs know how important Soriano is to their lineup and to the stretch run. "As far as what he means to us, he's one of the best players in baseball," Chicago's Mark DeRosa said. "You add that to your lineup, it's huge. We've been able to hold the lead in the division without him, but he's one of the reasons we're able to get back in this thing to begin with."
The Brewers placed pitcher Claudio Vargas on the DL with a stiff lower back but they did get Ben Sheets back on Wednesday. "I don't know if it's perfect timing. It all depends how I pitch," Sheets said. "If I pitch well, then it's perfect timing. If I don't, then I should have waited."
