MLB Betting Preview
San Diego Padres (66-57) at New York Mets (70-53)
Tuesday, 7:10 pm Eastern

SBG Global Opening Line: Mets -110, Total 7.5 (-120)

Chris Young of the Padres leads the major leagues with an ERA of 1.93. He is only 9-4 because the Padres have a pathetic offense. Young is still seeking his first win in three starts since returning from the 15-day disabled list for a strained left oblique. Young threw six shutout innings Wednesday, giving up three hits and two walks while striking out six. He got a no decision in a game the Padres lost 3-0 to Colorado. "I definitely was a little sharper," Young said, "I still feel like I'm not quite there with my stuff." Young is 5-1 with a 1.28 ERA in 14 starts since May 18. Young has struggled in his career against the Mets going 0-1 with a 7.00 ERA in two career starts against New York. The Padres are 0-6 in the last two years at New York. The Padres are coming off a 5-3 win over Houston on Sunday thanks to Greg Maddux who threw six innings. "It's time to really start thinking about winning games and not just trying to win against anybody," said Padres first baseman Adrian Gonzalez.

Carlos Beltran homered twice and had four RBIs Sunday as the Mets completed a three-game sweep at Washington with an 8-2 victory. Beltran is leading the way for New York with five homers and 13 RBIs in nine games since returning from the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique.
"It is about feeling good," Beltran said. "I am seeing the ball, and I feel balanced." More good news for the Mets is that Carlos Delgado is expected to play for the first time since last Wednesday. He's been out due to a hyperextended left knee. He is batting .328 with five homers and 11 RBIs in 16 career games versus San Diego. John Maine (13-7, 3.59) will try for the win on Tuesday for New York. He had a season high eight strikeouts in five innings of Wednesday's 10-8 victory at Pittsburgh.
