2007 MLB - Chicago Cubs at Colorado Rockies (Aug 9th)
SBG Global Opening Line: Cubs PK, Total 10 Over (-115)

The Chicago Cubs head to Colorado to take on the red hot Rockies in a four game series. The Cubs send Ted Lilly to the mound on Thursday as he looks for his 13th win of the year. Lilly is 12-5 with an ERA of 3.53 on the season. The Rockies go with Ubaldo Jimenez who is 1-1 with an ERA of 5.16. SBG Global reports that early betting has more bets on the Cubs on the road.

Lilly is 8-1 in his past 10 starts with a 3.04 ERA. He was superb against the Mets in his last outing. He struck out eight and gave up two runs. Jimenez was poor in his last outing giving up six earned runs against the Braves.

The Rockies come into the game having won 15 of their last 18 games at home including a slaughter of the collapsing Brewers on Wednesday. The Rockies are a Major League-best 21-5 at home since June 2. The Rockies tied a season-high for runs in an inning with seven in the second. They tied a franchise record with 11 extra-base hits, had a season-high for runs and hits (23), both one shy of the franchise record on Wednesday. Jeff Francis (13-5) won his club-record eighth decision with no losses in his last 11 starts.

SBG Global Current Line: Cubs PK, Total 10 Under (-115)

The Rockies batted around in the second and scored seven runs. They batted around again in the seventh inning and that was the fourth time in seven innings they had done so dating back to Tuesday night. Six Rockies had multi-hit games. Atkins went 4-for-4 with two doubles and six RBIs, which tied his career best set last season September 18 against the Giants. Troy Tulowitzki homered for the second straight day and had two doubles.

The Cubs will look to find some offense in Colorado. They can look to Jason Kendall who is batting .357 in his last 10 games. The problem for Kendall is that he can't throw out base stealers. Current television analyst Bob Brenly says it is not all Kendall's fault. "It's always a joint effort," Brenly said, "When you throw them out, it's because the pitcher held him close and gave the catcher a chance, and the catcher made a good throw and the infielder made a good tag. If any of those break down, you're going to give up a lot of stolen bases." Kendall is 0 for 19 throwing out runners with the Cubs.
