Ted Lilly goes for win #14 on Wednesday night as the Chicago Cubs host the Cincinnati Reds. Lilly is 13-5 on the season with an ERA of 3.51. He will be opposed by Phil Dumatrait who is 0-1 and has an ERA of 7.71 for the Reds. SBG Global reports that early betting has the public taking the favored Cubs at home.

Dumatrait was better in his last start against the Dodgers giving up two earned runs and seven hits in six innings. His first start in his debut for Cincinnati against Washington was a poor one as he allowed six runs.
Lilly threw a season high 127 pitches against the Rockies in his last outing but held Colorado to two runs and five hits in six innings. Lilly has won seven of his last eight starts for the Cubs.
The Cubs have been without Alfonso Soriano but his replacement Ryan Theriot continues to do a good job getting on base. "When I'm really going good, I'll have one or two at-bats a game where I'll be 3-2 and I'll normally see eight pitches in an at-bat,” Theriot said. “But when you start to kind of scuffle a little bit, you tend to want to hit that first straight one you see."
Theriot was hitting .357 leading off with two doubles, five runs and a stolen base. In 19 games from the leadoff spot this season, he was hitting .322 with six doubles. Once Soriano returns he will go back to the leadoff spot and Theriot will move to the #2 slot.

One player the Cubs did get back is Daryle Ward. He returned from a stint on the DL and was happy. "I've been bored to death for about three weeks," Ward said. "I'm ready to get out here and have some fun and play ball with the rest of my guys."
"The leg was a little tight when I first got here," he said. "But as a player, you want to get out there. Man, if it just feels good, you want to get out there and play, but they've been cautious with me and it's worked out well because it feels real good today." Ward was hitting .333 with seven doubles in 47 games and was .423 with a .500 on-base percentage in his last 14 games before the injury.
