Philadelphia host awful Washington on Tuesday night. The Phillies are in prime-time hunt position right now, and they are in that group of teams that NEEDS TO WIN starting now. Philadelphia (66-58) has struggled terribly at the plate in recent weeks, and it has dropped 1 1/2 games behind the first-place New York Mets in the NL East. Team's need to win, and that's what motivates them. The good news is that Philadelphia won two of three games versus San Diego over the weekend, thanks to timely hits from Burrell, and now they get Washington at home.

Philadelphia sends out Joe Blanton to the mound on Tuesday night.  Joe comes in 1-0 on the season with the Phillies, pitching 27 innings. His ERA is decent at 3.98.  The Phillies have hit .275 with 12 home runs and 16 doubles in nine games against the major league-worst Nationals (44-81).  Blanton has thrown very well his last three times out getting one decision at 1-0 and accumulating an ERA of 2.37, with a WHIP of 1.11.  The entire squad should be very well rested with a day off Monday, and heads should be sky high as they continue their hunt for the division. Philadelphia owns the series this season with the Nats at 6-3 in 9 total meetings.  The Nationals went 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position in a 7-2 loss to Colorado on Sunday, marking the eighth time they have scored three runs or less during their skid.  I'm taken Philadelphia tonight to win this game and you should too.
