Jason Giambi must be given credit where credit is due. As far as I know, he is the only  active player in Major League Baseball to come forward and admit he has used steroids. And this admission seems to have put him in hot water with the league and even hotter water with fellow players. The MLB Players Union would like to see Giambi keep his mouth shut while Baseball Commissioner  Bud Selig wants information. And to make matters worse, Giambi is being coerced into testifying before special investigator, former US Senator George Mitchell. The former Senator is conducting an investigation of steroid use in MLB. 

According to the New York Times newspaper, Giambi has entered a plea-bargain to Selig. If Giambi refuses to meet with Mitchell, he could be suspended but on the other hand, if he meets with Mitchell he could still be suspended. What this all boils down to is Giambi is caught between a rock and a hard spot. 

Online sportsbook Betus.com wants to give baseball bettors a chance to get in on the action and is offering odds on Giambi’s situation. Will Giambi get suspended and if he does for how long?

 If Jason Giambi is suspended, his suspension will be OVER 11 ½ games (-120) or UNDER 11 ½ games (-120). 

The second part of the Betus.com Giambi Special is asking the bettor to guess the outcome of Giambi’s alledged steroids abuse. 

He will be suspended for under one whole year (-5000) 

He will be banned for life (+10000). 

He will be pardoned by MLB (+1000).  (good value: Giambi has a good chance at a pardon as a reward for his testimony. MLB wants the big fish)

Players have until July 5, 2007 to make a bet in either of the Giambi Special categories. And action (a decision) must be made before Dec 31, 2008 or the second category will be a no-action.
