Milwaukee Brewers vs. Cincinnati Reds Betting Preview (08-04-2008)
Tonight the Brewers head to Cincinnati to begin a three game set against the last place Reds. Milwaukee had vaulted themselves directly into contention with Cubs after an eight game winning streak , but then they proceeded to lose seven of their last 10 games and now sit five games back from Chicago.

Cincinnati is in a duel to unseat the Pirates from their seemingly permanent last place residence in the NL Central.

Milwaukee, despite their recent struggles has been good on the road the past few weeks. They took two out of three from the Braves in Atlanta, but failed to complete the sweep as the Braves took the final game 5-0.

The Brew Crew will send Manny Parra to the mound tonight to set the team back on the winning track. Parra is 9-4 on the year and at times he has been brilliant. Lately, however, he has struggled as Milwaukee is just 1-4 in his last five starts. During that stretch Parra has allowed 14 earned runs in 31 innings of work -- not terrible, but not good enough as the team's record reflects.

Cincinnati has been all over the place this season, but more recently they have stumbled and stumbled hard. The Reds have won just two of their last 10 games, and they were just swept by the lowly Nationals in D.C. Home has not been much of an elixir for Cincy either, the team has won only four of their last six at Great American Ball Park.

The Reds will look to veteran pitcher Bronson Arroyo to drag them out of the ditch they have fallen in. Arroyo has proven to be a consistent performer and Cincinnati is 4-1 in his last five starts. The Reds are also 4-1 in his last five home starts.

This game obviously holds more value to the Brewers as they look to stay in the playoff chase, but Cincinnati would like to finish near the .500 mark as the season heads toward the home stretch.
