The Boston Red Sox beat Kansas City 7-0 Monday night with a no hitter by Lester.  With the Fenway Park faithful all on their feet, Jon Lester struck out Kansas City's Alberto Callaspo to seal his first career MLB no-hitter.  It took him a career-high 130 pitches. It's the first no-hitter by a Sox left-hander since Mel Parnell did it against the White Sox on July 14, 1956. You have to give Lester credit, no matter what team your a fan of.   To go out there and pitch 9 innings and not let a single ball get past or bounce in front of a fielder for a hit is simply amazing. Very well deserved.  The oddsmakers at sportsbetting.com currently have the Boston Red Sox -140 favorites to Kansas City heading into this MLB Matchup Tuesday night.

It was the fourth no-hitter caught by Jason Varitek.  Hideo Nomo, Derek Lowe and Clay Buchholz each enjoyed their moment in history.  Jon Lester first beats cancer and now throws a no hitter, amazing.. Here is an accomplishment that every MLB pitcher will always want at least once in their life.  Lester (3-2) allowed just two baserunners, walking Billy Butler in the second inning and Esteban German to open the ninth.

Looks like that no-trade worked out for Red Sox, they keep young guns who have no-hitters next to their credentials.  Fine job keeping Lester and Buchholz. I can't believe Sox fans have seen the day when they could talk of their once-cursed team as the class of the league.  Lester also was the winning pitcher of Game 4 of the World Series on Oct. 28, 2007, clinching the title for the Sox.  People will say, why did they leave the young pitcher in the game after going way over 100 pitches, 130 to be exact.  But Red Sox pitching coach John Farrell was willing to give it a good shot.  I say let him pitch, he is going for a no hitter and he is a young pitcher.  I hate when everyone is always worried about a pitch count. The Sox play the second game of a four game set Tuesday night at 7PM at Fenway.
