MLB Betting Odds: Atlanta Braves at Philadelphia Phillies Picks Preview (05-15-08)The Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies will complete their three-game series on Thursday with Chuck James facing Cole Hamels. The Phillies took the first game of the series and the Braves bats came alive in the second game on Wednesday. SBG Global reports that early MLB betting has the public taking Phillies at Home.

James pitched six innings in his last start, Saturday against the Pirates, and allowed five runs on five hits.  He did strike out seven batters but walked four.  It was his fourth start this season for the Braves.  He is 2-2 on the season with an ERA of 7.58.

Atlanta Braves at Philadelphia Phillies
Thursday, 7:05 pm Eastern

SBG Global Opening Line: Phillies  - 168, Total  9 Over -120

The Phillies will send out Cole Hamels on Thursday.  He is 4-3 on the season with an ERA of 3.36 but has not pitched as well lately going 2-2 in this last five starts with an ERA of 4.98. He is 3-2 in his career against the Braves with a 4.42 ERA.  What could definitely help Philadelphia is getting star first baseman Ryan Howard on track.  He is in a major slump and is hitting below .200 for the season.  "All players go through it," Phillies’ manager Charlie Manuel said. "Go back and look. Sometimes players go a long time before they hit a home run. They'll go 30, 40 at-bats before they get a hit. Sometimes, you know what you're doing wrong and you can't stop it. That's the game. That's the nature of the game. ... Howard's going to hit."
