The Dodgers are trying to win it all this year. They got the offensive power by picking up Manny Ramirez a couple weeks ago. The Los Angeles Times reported on Monday night that there could be a trade in place to send Greg Maddux from the Padres to the LA Dodgers. LA now needs some pitching to go with this offense to try to win it all this season. Maddux has a 3.99 ERA this season but is only 6-9 for a Padres team that has languished in last place in the weak NL West. If this deal is made this could be the second time Maddux has pitched for the Dodgers. It's not a shocker that the Padres give away something worthwhile. Maddux is currently 8th all time in pitching victories at 353. One more win and he ties Clemens. He is still a better than average pitcher and there is no reason for him to retire anytime soon. I think he will be a good pick-up for the Dodgers and he should enjoy the spaciousness of Chavez Ravine. They still need another bat in the lineup that can hit with some legitimate power. NL teams are going to pitch around Manny as the season goes on because they simply have too many singles hitters in their lineup. The Dodgers completed a trade for Ramirez with the Red Sox on Aug. 1, and he has batted .421 with six homers and 21 RBIs for Los Angeles. Could they make two good trades to help the team this month for the pennant race? We will see. Bet on MLB Baseball at Bodoglife.com View MLB Baseball Betting Odds now!
