Listed below are the latest UFC 80 odds and betting lines for this event titled Rapid Fire. The general public seems to be a little disappointed with this Rapid Fire card as BJ Penn and Joe Stevenson are lesser known headliners, and the heavyweight fight features non-mainstream guys in Gabriel Gonzaga and Fabrico Werdum. UFC 80 will take place on January 19th, 2008 at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle, England. Originally it was supposed to be an Interim Lightweight Championship, but the previous champion Sean Sherk was stripped of his title after the California State Athletic Commission upheld his suspension for testing positive for steroids. Now the winner of the Penn Stevenson matchup will be the undisputed title holder. BodogLife.com has Joe Stevenson +225 for the Rapid Fire UFC slugfest. BJ "the Prodigy" Penn was once an up and comer in the welterweight division, and he has wins over the likes of Matt Huges, Jens Pulver, Matt Serra, and Renzo Gracie. However, he has moved down to the 155 pound weight class and is a real contender once again. He took down Pulver at the Ultimate Fighter 5 Finales, giving him his first win in the octagon since beating Hughes at UFC 46. He had lost his first two matches in his return to the UFC, once to Hughes and once to Georges St. Pierre. His record is still at 11-4-1 and you have to like his chances with him moving down a weight class. Bet on Penn at -280 at BetUS. Josh "Daddy" Stevenson is 28-7 in his MMA career, but this is by far the biggest fight he has had to date. He did beat Luke Cummo to win season 2 of the Ultimate Fighter, but has since moved down to the 155 pound class. He lost his next match to Josh Neer by decision, but has since won four straight inside the octagon. He is a wresling, Brazilian Jiu-Jistu specialist who is ranked #10 in the world in the lightweight division. Bet on Stevenson at +235 at Sportsbook.com. Gabrial "Napao" Gonzaga stands at 9-2 in MMA action, but is coming off his first loss in four years. Randy Couture beat down Gonzaga back at UFC 74 in August of 2007 to win the heavyweight title. He earned that title shot with an impressive win at UFC 70 over Mirko "Crop Cop" Filipovic and he enters the octagon as a favorite in this heavyweight battle. Bet on Gonzaga at -250 at Bookmaker. Fabricio Werdum lost in his only UFC battle to Andrei Arlovski back at UFC 70. He has taken a lot of time off since and is looking to rebound against Gonzaga, whom he has beaten once before even though that was way back in September of 2003. Still with a 9-3 record and a win under his belt, Werdum might be a good pick at a nice value for UFC 80. Bet on Werdum at +210 at Sportsbook.com. UFC 80 Odds: Gabriel Gonzaga -250 Fabricio Werdum +210
BJ Penn -280 Joe Stevenson +235
Kendall Grove -330 Jorge Rivera +275 Bet on MMA at Bodoglife.com |

As we head into UFC 73: Stacked, verbal jabs are being thrown at a high rate surrounding the Tito Ortiz vs. Rashad Evans Light-Heavyweight fight. Bodog.com has this fight at even with both Ortiz and Evans each listed at -115 odds.
First, Tito Ortiz and Rashad Evans had a shoving match. Then Ortiz called Evans a “nappy headed ho”. Now Evans feels disrespected and vows to punish Ortiz.
And of course Dana “am I a boy or a girl” White could not resist and had to flap his lips calling Ortiz a “Big Ugly Gorilla” in an effort to hype UFC 73 a bit more. I was going to leave dear Dana White alone after calling him out in a previous article for Point-Spreads.com and on the Carmichael Dave radio show but man he sure makes it easy.
If lily white Dana were to take an honest look in the mirror he would recognize that he resembles a weasel mixed with a albino monkey. Man this clown really makes me chuckle.
So with all the bad blood I’m hoping at least we get a decent fight out of all this garbage. An estimated 18,000 Tito Ortiz fans will be pulling for the “Huntington Beach Bad Boy” to rebound with a win over Rashad Evans.

Anderson Silva defends his UFC Middleweight title on Saturday night, as he faces Nate Marquardt at UFC 73: Stacked. Silva, nicknamed "The Spider," will be tough to beat and enters this matchup with an MMA record of 18-4 that includes 10 knockouts and three submissions. The fact that Silva can beat you with a flurry of punches and kicks, or with a well-timed submission hold makes him one of the most deadly MMA fighters in UFC today. Silva is a huge striker who can knock you out with his fists, feet or knees with raw power, but he's also a technically perfect Muay Thai boxer which gives him a sometimes impenetrable defense and an offensive style that allows him to fully exploit any holes or weakness his opponent leaves open. In his last UFC fight Silva faced Travis Lutter at UFC 67 in February. The fight ended quickly in the second round after Silva applied a triangle choke to Lutter and forced him to tap out. Marquardt enters the bout as a definite underdog, but Silva won't be taking him lightly. Marquardt matches up with Silva quite well because he's also a well-rounded fighter who can hold his own standing and throwing blows, and grappling on the mat. Nate "The Great" is 28-6-1 in his MMA career with four TKOs and 15 submissions, which includes a 4-0 mark in the UFC. Marquardt has a ton of experience versus some of the best MMA fighters in the world as a former seven-time middleweight king of Pancrase. He fights in a more laidback slow-paced style than Silva, and may need to attack Silva early on to avoid getting laid out early by the explosive champion. Bet on MMA at Wagerweb.com |
