UFC 83 Fight Odds: Serra vs. St-Pierre and more (04-18-08)Fight fans will have plenty to bet on this Saturday evening as both the UFC and a boxing legend will be in action. Of course, Sportsbook.com has the latest UFC 83 odd s for this weekend’s full slate of MMA fights.

First up, coming from Canada is “UFC 83: Serra vs. St-Pierre 2 ”. As the title suggests, the headlining fight features the long awaited rematch between current UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Serra and Interim Champ Georges St-Pierre. It was just over a year ago when the veteran Serra, despite long odds, turned the MMA world upside down with a first round TKO of then champion St-Pierre. The end result came as such a huge surprise because going into the fight St-Pierre was not only considered the superior fighter but he supposedly had a much better stand-up game. Serra, a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, has an outstanding ground and submission game; whereas St-Pierre is regarded as one of the most well rounded fighters in all of MMA. It’s hard to predict where this fight will end up, but one thing is for sure: St-Pierre will be better prepared for Serra’s surprisingly effective striking game.  Rust could be a concern for the Serra camp, as he has not fought since his victory over St-Pierre last April. St-Pierre, on the other hand, has been fighting in top form with wins over up and comer Josh Koscheck and former champ Matt Hughes.

As mentioned, traditional fight fans also have something to look forward this Saturday evening. Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins takes his 43 year old fists and mouth into the ring to square off against undefeated and Super Middleweight Champion Joe Calzaghe. Never one to hold back, Hopkins added instant hype to this fight shouting,

“I would never let a white boy beat me. I would never lose to a white boy. I couldn’t go back to the projects if I lost to a white boy.”

Obviously the odds-makers at Sportsbook.com think Hopkins might not be able to return to the projects of Philadelphia as they currently have him as a +200 underdog .
