NBA Playoff Picks: Cleveland Cavaliers at Boston Celtics Betting Preview (05-14-08)The Boston Celtics had the NBA’s best regular season record but in the playoffs they have looked very beatable.  After winning the first two games at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Celtics lost both road games and now the series is tied 2-2.  The Celtics are now 0-5 on the road in the playoffs and it has many of the players concerned. "There is some frustration," center P.J. Brown said "But up to this point, it hasn't gotten under our skin."  The Celtics went an NBA-best 31-10 on the road in the regular season but have looked terrible on the road in the playoffs including the last two games in Cleveland. "The key is winning the series. Whether it's at home or on the road, you just try to win it," Paul Pierce said. "It's a three-game series, with two of them at home." SBG Global reports that early NBA betting has the public taking Celtics at Home.

NBA Playoff Betting Preview
Cleveland Cavaliers at Boston Celtics (Series tied 2-2)
Wednesday, 8:05 pm Eastern – TNT

SBG Global Opening Line: Celtics – 8.5, Total  176.5

The good news for Boston is that they still have home-court advantage and they are unbeaten at home in the playoffs. "We earned that right to have home-court advantage," Boston head coach Doc Rivers said. "I don't think it has anything to do with why we haven't won a road game. We haven't played well on the road, and we have to do better."  The Celtics also know they must win NBA Playoffs Game Five because they sure can’t count on winning a Game Six at Cleveland. "I'm not even thinking about a Game 7. That's definitely the idea: Get a win (Wednesday) night and try to close it out in Game 6," Pierce said. "We definitely have to play well (in Game 5), because we haven't been playing well on the road. You kind of want to treat it like a Game 7, because you can't count on winning Game 6."

SBG Global Current Line: Celtics – 8.5, Total  176.5

The Cavaliers are not in any better shape than the Celtics considering they haven’t won on the road in this series either. They at least have a road win the playoffs though, at Washington in Game 6 of that series. "It just shows how strong you are as a team to be able to go into a hostile environment and stick together and come out with a win," Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson said, "Once you've experienced an environment, going back to it is kind of like, 'We've been here before.' And we felt like we were right there to win a game. So we know what we're capable of doing on their floor and we're going into it with a lot of confidence."

The Cavaliers nearly won Game 1 in Boston but LeBron James missed a layup that would have tied the game. "You can win all your home games and get a championship that way. I don't think that has ever been done," Cavaliers coach Mike Brown said. "You've got to get some road wins to be a champion, at least that's the history of the game. I tell our guys, if you expect to win in the playoffs, you've got to know how to defend and you've got to know how to win on the road."

Here are the NBA betting stats for Wednesday’s game. The Cavaliers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 vs. the Atlantic. The Cavaliers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Conference Semifinals games. The Cavaliers are 35-16-1 ATS in their last 52 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The Cavaliers are 15-7 ATS in their last 22 playoff games as an underdog. The Cavaliers are 5-2-2 ATS in the last 9 meetings in Boston. The underdog is 7-3-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings between the two teams.

The Celtics are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 Wednesday games. The Celtics are 14-3 ATS in their last 17 games as a home favorite. The Celtics are 11-5 ATS in their last 16 vs. the Central. The Celtics are 24-11 ATS in their last 35 games overall. The Celtics are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 Conference Semifinals games.

The Under is 7-1 in the Cavaliers last 8 vs. the Atlantic. The Under is 13-3 in the Cavaliers last 16 Conference Semifinals games. The Under is 7-2 in the Cavaliers last 9 games as an underdog. NBA Playoffs: San Antonio vs New Orleans Game 5 Picks Predictions (05-13-08)

The New Orleans Hornets put the Spurs in a corner going up 2-0 to start this NBA Playoffs betting series.  The Spurs have now answered to come back and tie this NBA Playoffs picks series up 2-2 after having two big blow out wins on there home court.  New Orleans is back on their home floor on Tuesday night for Game 5 of this series.  New Orleans has been hot in the NBA playoffs at home, but the champion Spurs are on a roll coming into this game.  The oddsmakers at sportsbetting.com currently have the New Orleans -4 favorites to San Antonio Spurs heading into this NBA Playoff betting matchup.

If New Orleans is going to take this series, Chandler and D.West must step up in Game 5.  Chris Paul can't win this series by himself; I don't care how good he is.  I wouldn't say this game is do or die for the Spurs, because they still have one more game at home to play and the Hornets don't want to get in a 7th game even with home court with the Spurs, as they know how to win big games like that one would be.

This game is crucial for the Hornets tonight.  If they lose this game they will be down 3-2 in the series going back to San Antonio where they have yet to win and haven't even come close to winning a game there.  Hornets coach Byron Scott has said all along that he needs to keep one of the big three down, Duncan, Manu and Parker.  The Hornets' D. West should play well tonight; he has had two big games, two poor games.  It's like a trend with him, even in the regular season he did the same thing.  He has now had two poor games in a row so tonight he should be on, and they need him to be or they might be done!

NBA Angle plays for this NBA Playoff Picks Matchup When SAN ANTONIO team played as a Road team - Last 4 years - Coming off a Win over Western Southwest opponent 16-4 SU in this spot. When SAN ANTONIO team played as a 3.5 to 6 Road Underdog - Vs Conference Opponent - playing on Tuesday 3-12 O/U in this spot.

D'Antoni takes the job to become new Knicks head coach (05-12-08) PDF Print E-mail

D'Antoni takes the job to become new Knicks head coach (05-12-08)The New York Knicks have agreed in principle with Mike D'Antoni to become the next Knicks coach.  The former Suns coach is on his way to the Big Apple, an offer reportedly worth 4 years and $24 million.  This will make D'Antoni the league's third-highest-paid coach based on annual salary.  After averaging 58 wins per year in four seasons as an NBA coach, he’ll be an upgrade over Isiah. SportsBetting.com has all your NBA Playoff betting action, sign up today and cash in on your NBA picks.

He is an idiot.  He went from a team loaded with talent to a team that should be in the WNBA or even women's college hoops.  Hiring of D'Antoni isn't going to solve the problem.  This team plays absolutely no defense, and what do they do, they hire a man who doesn't preach any defense.  This guy is OVERRATED I mean come on this is the same guy who can't even get past the Spurs in the playoffs because he doesn't believe in DEFENSE.  He's never been to a NBA championship and he will never make it to one.  He's going to realize real fast that if you don't play defense in NYC the media and the fans will eat you alive.

D'Antoni is a fine offensive coach who runs a system the players enjoy, and this will be a fun offense to watch, but if you don't pay defense you can't win.  Isiah Thomas has totally destroyed the foundation of this franchise.  They have so many ridiculous contracts on the books, it will be a couple of years before the foundation can be cleared and the unbelievable contracts will expire.  Bottom Line- this was a stupid decision. If he wanted to win, he should've stayed in Phoenix or gone to Chicago. He's not winning in NY anytime soon. If he thought he took a lot of abuse by the press in Phoenix wait until he gets to NY.  He will get absolutely slaughtered.

NBA Playoffs Picks: Orlando vs Detroit Game 5 Betting Predictions (05-13-08)

Orlando blew a 15 point third quarter lead on Saturday to lose to Detroit 90-89 in the NBA Playoffs.  Detroit now leads the NBA Playoff series 3-1.  All-star point guard Chauncey Billups did not play in the game and Detroit still won in Orlando. Magic all-star Dwight Howard has never got on track this entire NBA Playoff series, after averaging 20 points and 20 rebounds in round one of the playoffs, he hasn't been the same in 2nd round.  He had just eight points Saturday, all but two of them in the first quarter.  The oddsmakers at SportsBook.com currently have the Detroit -6 favorites to Orlando heading into this NBA Playoff betting matchup.

Magic guard Jameer Nelson guaranteed a Magic victory when the series returns to Detroit on Tuesday. "We're going to make some adjustments and we're going to win this game," Nelson said after Orlando's 90-89 loss on Saturday.  "I'm not being arrogant or cocky or anything like that. I think (Saturday) we let it slip out of our hands.  Game 2 we let it slip out of our hands.  We're going to win this game in Detroit."

Just because he says "I'm not being arrogant or cocky" doesn't mean he isn't being arrogant and cocky. We can all agree that he is at least being stupid!  That guaranteed stuff doesn't all ways work, when teams do that they are putting themselves and their team in a lot of trouble, because the other team is going to be hyped up, you giving the other team something to put on the board.  I gave them a slight chance in game 5. After his lame prediction, they will probably get destroyed.  Detroit's

Orlando is a mid-level team in the NBA, their only chance at beating Detroit is for the Pistons to show disinterest in Game 5 being up 3-1 in the series.  What are the chances of that happening now?  Well Nelson, if you wouldn't have blown a 15 point lead, you wouldn't be down 3-1.  Your team couldn't hold a 15 point lead against a team missing its leader and starting point guard.  Bottom line is Orlando is losing exactly as expected.

Rasheed Wallace will be yapping and he will be pissed and the Detroit crowd will actually start making some noise for once.  This series is over.

Betting NBA Playoffs: Celtics vs Cavs Game 4 Preview and Picks (05-12-08)Tonight the Boston Celtics will play the Cleveland Cavaliers in game 4 of their NBA playoff betting series.  The Celtics were out too a 2-0 lead in the series by winning the first two games of the series at home.  Cleveland bounced back in game 3 with a convincing 108-84 win, and trimmed the lead to only 2-1 in the series.  Tonight, NBA Playoff game 4 takes place, and the Cavs look to even the NBA betting series at 2 games a piece.

Boston seems to be having trouble winning on the road in this years NBA playoffs.  They led the league with a 31-10 record on the road during the regular season.  Also they had a total record of 72-20.  The Celtics have dropped all four of its away games in the postseason so far.  They cannot afford to continue this trend if they hope to advance to the NBA finals.  They have a perfect 6-0 record in Boston these playoffs.  With the best record in the entire NBA, they hold home court advantage throughout the entire NBA playoffs.  This means that they can potentially win the NBA championship without winning a road game.  They would have to play 7 game series in every match up and not lose at home once.  This is a tough task to accomplish.  Boston needs to change something quickly and find a way to win on the road.  Currently Oddsmakers at Sportsbetting.com have the Celtics as slight +115 underdogs heading into tonight's game.

On Saturday night, during game 3 of this series the Celtics fell down early. They were behind by 19 points after the first quarter.  They then were down by a score of 43-17 in the second and could never mount any type of serious comeback.  The Cavs played well and got contribution from all of its players.  Although Lebron James did not have a good game, the rest of the team did.  Jo Smith had an excellent game.  He went 7 for 8 from the field, for 14 points and had 6 rebounds.  Delonte West also played great for the Cavs.  He made four 3 pointers for 21 points and also added 7 assists.  He helped push the tempo and played stellar defense.  Wally Szczerbiak had 16 points and Ben Wallace who was not supposed to play because of an ear infection, played though it and had 9 points and 9 boards.  If Cleveland can continue to get contribution from the enrite team then there is no reason to believe they won't win game 4 of this series.
