On Monday night Detroit tied up this NBA Playoff series at 2-2, going back to Boston for NBA Playoffs Game 5 Wednesday night. Detroit's Antonio McDyess had the best game of the series 21 points and 16 rebounds to lift Detroit to a 94-75 series-evening win over the Boston Celtics on Monday night in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals. The Pistons set the tone against the Celtics when they rattled off 10 straight points before the visitors could even get on the board. The oddsmakers at sportsbook.com currently have the Boston Celtic's -6 favorites to Detroit heading into this NBA Playoff betting matchup.
The Celtics just played horrible in Game 4. Paul Pierce and Ray Allen struggled from the field and if it were not for a ton of trips to the foul line (39) it would have been a blow out. If it were not for the refs this game would have been over in the first half. Every time Sheed got into the game he got into foul trouble, every time the momentum was in the Pistons favor, the refs slowed the game down putting the Celts on the line because they couldn't make a field goal. Without the refs the Celtics wouldn't have broke 60 points. Boston looked a bit like a team that was content to go home 2-2. The Big Three of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen shot a dismal 11-for-38 from the floor (28.9 percent), combining for 43 points. Boston still leads the season series 4-3 SU and ATS, and the straight-up winner has cashed in seven straight meetings in this rivalry. Also, despite Detroit's win and cover in Game 4, the road team is still 9-3 ATS in the last 12 clashes between these two, and the underdog has cashed in 12 of the last 17 contests. The Celtics spent a lot of time studying film on Tuesday afternoon, and C's Coach Rivers walked them through some defensive and offensive situations. Piston's Coach Saunders liked the way his players responded after he gave them an off-day before Game 3, so he gave them another. The Celtics have only one win on the road these 2008 playoffs. There head home on Wednesday night and they must win this game. If they don't, Detroit can close out this series on their homecourt Friday night. Home court advantage is preferential officiating and the team destined to be the champion finds a way to over come any obstacle. I think both teams take care of business at home and it comes down to a Game 7 in Boston. Both teams have bounced back after a loss, and C's have an extra advantage of bouncing back at home. It should go 7, and if it does it might be another one of those games for the ages. It will be an interesting matchup for the Lakers, whoever comes out of the East. It will bring up the age old question, does defense win championships, or is it offense and having the most clutch players in recent years? Recent Trends for this NBA Matchup· Under is 11-3 in DET last 14 road games. · DET are 13-6 ATS in their last 19 games overall. · DET are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 Wed. games. · BOS are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 Wed. games. · BOS are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 vs. NBA Central. · BOS are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games overall. · Under is 7-1 in the last 8 meetings. · Road team is 9-3 ATS in the last 12 meetings. |

The Detroit Pistons got their must-win NBA Playoffs game on Monday as they won at home against the Boston Celtics to even the best of seven Eastern Conference Finals at two games each. Now the Boston Celtics are facing their must-win game on Wednesday in Game Five as they don’t want to go back to Detroit having to win a Game Six. SBG Global reports that early NBA betting has the public taking Celtics at Home. The Pistons were led on Monday by forward Antonio McDyess who showed a lot of energy and desire. McDyess had 21 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Piston to the 94-75 win. "(McDyess) knows that you can't take any of this for granted," Pistons coach Flip Saunders said. "Some of our guys have been in six straight conference finals, which is an amazing achievement, but for some of our guys, this is the first time.” The Celtics need to find some of the energy that McDyess had or they may lose this series. "We don't get this opportunity too much in our careers," Celtics’ forward Paul Pierce said, "We have to go out and play like it's our last, because you never know when this is going to happen again. ... We have to find some way, somehow to get a win at home and bring that momentum back to Detroit." Home court is no guarantee in this series as both teams have won on each other’s court. The Celtics shot just 32 percent on Monday night and none of the Big Three played well. They will need a big performance on Wednesday or they could face a road game at Detroit with their season on the line and that is not a pleasant thought for Boston. The Spurs did what they have done the entire NBA Playoffs, win NBA Playoffs Game 3. The series is now 2-1 with the LA Lakers leading with a 103-84 blow out win by the Spurs Sunday night. Manu Ginobili has been struggling in this series and has been hurt, but he came out strong on Sunday's Game 2with a 30 points performance. With the Spurs’ backs against the wall in the Western Conference finals on Sunday, with their season on the brink of extinction, Ginobili was at last Ginobili. He hit five of the Spurs' ten 3-pointers and got to the rim a few times to keep the defending champions from falling into an 0-3 hole, which no NBA team has ever overcome. The oddsmakers at sportsbetting.com currently have the San Antonio -4 favorites to LA Lakers heading into this NBA Playoff betting matchup.
Tim Duncan had 22 points, 21 rebounds and 5 assists, and Tony Parker added 20 points and 5 assists for the Spurs, who remained unbeaten at home this postseason. Los Angeles, which averaged 95 points on 48 percent shooting in two home wins to begin this series, were limited to 42.7 percent shooting in Game 3, including missing 17 of 23 attempts from long range. Kobe Bryant had 30 points to pace the Lakers, who finished with their lowest point output of the postseason. This year the season series is at 4-3 with the home team winning each one. The Lakers supporting cast was as horrible in Game 3 as San Antonio's was in Game 2. Lamar Odom's performance was disgraceful. Odom 2-11, Derek Fisher 2 points, and Paul Gasol 6-17. The Lakers cannot win with those players not performing better on the offensive end. Manu was amazing and he played with a lot of energy. He hit a lot of big 3's throughout the game and that is why the Lakers lost. I don't care who you play, if you shoot that poorly, you will probably lose that particular game. The Spurs also started settling for jumpers and not moving the ball effectively and that is why the Lakers lost. After an impressive Game 3 victory on Sunday night, the defending champion Spurs now look to even this best-of-seven Western Conference finals series when they host the Lakers at the AT&T Center. Los Angeles has eliminated San Antonio seven times in the last 10 postseason head-to-head matchups, going 3-0 in conference finals. Coach Phil Jackson has never lost a seven-game postseason series when winning Game 1, going 40-0. The Spurs need to win game 4 tonight to stay alive. If they don't, then they will head back to LA Down 3-1 and Lakers will probably close things out on their home floor. If the Spurs can repeat this year it will undoubtedly be the greatest accomplishment in franchise history--not only because it would be a repeat but because of the level of competition they would have faced and overcome. The Celtics took NBA Playoffs Game 3 on Saturday night on the road 94-80 to take the series leads 2-1. It was perfect timing to win there first NBA playoff road game of the year. The Celtics said they weren't worried coming into the game about not winning on the road, knowing their time would come in the playoffs. "I think the loss rejuvenated us," Celtics captain Paul Pierce said, "We really wanted to come out and get this one." Kevin Garnett picked up 2 early fouls and headed to the bench with 7 minutes left in the first quarter. Garnett picked it up when he came back in the game and ended up with 22 points, 13 boards, 6 assists and 2 steals. Paul Pierce had 11 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 1 block and 5 turnovers. Ray Allen shot 5-16 from the field. Boston was also solid from the line (25-30) and excellent on the glass, grabbing 44 rebounds to Detroit's 28. The oddsmakers at sportsbook.com currently have the Detroit Pistons -6 favorites to Boston heading into this NBA Playoff betting matchup.
"They got home court back," Detroit coach Flip Saunders said. "Monday is a crucial game for us, the biggest of the year." In thje Game 3 loss Saturday night, Pistons look tentative with their shots confused, on defense crying to the refs, they got treated like a waiter in their own house. I was surprised the refs allowed Boston to win. What I saw in the first two games of this series, whenever Boston went baseline, Detroit was allowed to just hack away and shove the guys out of bounds. There was a play in Game 2 where Detroit's Chauncey Billups grabbed a guy's arm with both hands and pulled him out of the way so he could get in the lane for a layup and the officials called the foul on Boston. So the Celtics have won two Game 7's, they have won on the road against the hardest home team they have played, now all they have to do is close out a series and that is what you call a championship caliber team. The Celtics, by beating Cleveland erases the Hawks series, and beating the Pistons erases the Cavs series. In sports you aren't judged by what you did almost a month ago, you are judged by what you have done lately. Lately the Celtics have beaten the second best team in the league, with the second best defense in the league at home and on the road. Yes, they are looking pretty good right now. Detroit doesn't lose home games like the Celtics and with Boston just winning one road game these playoffs on Saturday night in Detroit it will be hard for them to go back to back wins on the road. Detroit needs this game or they go back to Boston down 3-1 having to win two games in Boston to win the series. Last night the Spurs were in a hole 2-0 and they won when they had to, will Detroit do the same Monday night? NBA Angle plays for this NBA Playoff Picks Matchup When DETROIT team Played as Home team as a Favorite - Last 2 years - Coming off a Home loss 10-4 ATS in this spot. When DETROIT team Played as Home team as a Favorite - Last 5 years - playing on Monday 21-3 SU in this spot |

The San Antonio Spurs are in trouble, going down 2-0 in this NBA Playoffs Final series, losing on Friday night by 30 points to the LA Lakers, 101-71. Only 14 of the 222 teams to lose the first two games in a best-of-seven NBA playoff series have come back to win, including the Spurs in their second-round matchup with the Hornets. San Antonio's Manu Ginobili wasn't supposed to play on Friday with a jammed left ankle, but he did and played 23 minutes off the bench. Coaches say if they told Manu to sit out that he would have fought them, which is probably what most stars would do down 0-1 in the Conference Finals. I don't think his ankle would be bothering him if the Spurs were winning. When you lose, everything bothers you. The oddsmakers at sportsbetting.com currently have the San Antonio -5 favorites to LA Lakers heading into this NBA Playoff betting matchup. Game 2 was the Spurs single worst offensive performance of the season, and they've had some bad offensive nights. It was 74-57 entering the fourth quarter, and the Lakers made it a blowout by outscoring the Spurs 14-3 to begin the final period and make it 88-60. The Spurs got smoked twice in New Orleans by double digits and came back to win both series. Kobe Bryant scored 22 points; Lamar Odom added 20 points and 12 rebounds. Derek Fisher and Lamar Odom help jump start the game, and Kobe decided not to wait until the second half to get his game going like he did in Game 1. Could it be what the fans want a Lakers vs. Boston in the finals? There is no doubt that the Spurs have to win this game on Sunday or this series is over. San Antonio's Tony Parker has to become what he’s been in the past if they are going to come back from another 0-2 hole, and if Manu Ginobili isn’t healing. The Spurs left San Antonio six days ago for that last game in New Orleans, and they never went back until Saturday morning. Who can blame them for losing these two games in Los Angeles when they are worn out? Of course, the Spurs got smoked twice in New Orleans before coming alive at home. We'll see if they can do it against these guys, too. NBA Angle plays for this NBA Playoff Picks Matchup When ANY NBA Team played as a -3.5 to -6.0 Home Favorite - Vs Pacific opponent - playing on Sunday SAN ANTONIO 46-9 SU in this spot.
