So the NBA's dominant teams met again in the NBA Western Conference finals.  Here are some notes on this series starting on Wednesday night.  Kobe Bryant averaged 24.3 points per game vs. the Spurs this season.  He also had 18 assists vs. 17 turnovers in four games against the Spurs.  The Lakers and Spurs split the season series 2-2 with each team winning both its home games.  After scoring at least 30 points three times in the first round against Phoenix, Spurs Tony Parker had a small roll in the conference semifinals before hitting the game-sealing jumper in Game 7.   The oddsmakers at SportsBook.com currently have the LA Lakers -7 favorites to San Antonio heading into this NBA Playoff betting matchup.

Kobe shot in 4 games against the Spurs this season: 47%, 41%, 43%,43%.  The only game he shot well was the first in early November.  Those low 40's are good.  Any coach would be happy holding him close to 40, I guarantee it.  I don't have all the full stats but in the conference semifinals Kobe had 23 free throws in Game 1, the series with Utah and the entire Jazz team shot 30.  That is how it was the whole series basically, seems a little one sided toward Kobe, almost unfair, like David Stern wants Kobe to advance or something.
 
Everyone consistently talks about Kobe Bryant and he is the reason where they are right now.  Paul Gasol is the biggest reason LA even made it to the playoffs.  Since LA got him, Kobe has been exponentially better only because teams actually have to watch Gasol.  The MVP Award shouldn't have gone to Kobe this year, it should have gone to the Memphis Grizzlies for giving Paul to the Lakers!
