The Boston Celtics lost homecourt advantage Thursday night with a NBA Playoff loss to Detroit, 103-97. Detroit's Rodney Stuckey outscored Boston's bench 13-8. Granted the other Pistons bench players only scored 4 points. Still Stuckey's contributions were noticeable. “I’m never scared. I’m never nervous.” That's what Stuckey had to say after the game. Richard Hamilton bounced back from a poor series opener with 25 points. The Pistons are who we thought they were. They never panic and they wait for you to make a mistake and then they pounce on you. The oddsmakers at bodoglife.com currently have the Detroit -5 favorites to Boston heading into this NBA Playoff betting matchup. The Pistons looked like the better team in Game 2, they made the plays down the stretch like they have been doing over the past 6 seasons. After Game 1 loss the papers were saying that Detroit was too old and slow to win. I wonder if they put out an article now saying how fresh they looked after game 2? This series will probably go down to the wire in every game. It is going to be determined in 4th quarter play. Too much emphasis goes into these early games. Anyone that doesn't think this is a 6 or 7 game series needs to take their Homer glasses off. Detroit needs to keep homecourt advantage and win both of these home games starting on Saturday night. Going back to Boston 2-2 wouldn't surprise me. Ray Allen did have a good Game 2, finally breaking out of a slump with 25 points, Kevin Garnett had 24 points and 13 rebounds for the Celtics and Paul Pierce scored 26 points. Allen was limited to 11 minutes in the first half because of foul trouble. The Celtics have yet to win a road game in the playoffs, and there is no doubt about it now, they need a road win to win this series. Ray Allen must keep going for them to win as they will continue to double Kevin Garnett and Allen will be open and needs to make the shots. The reason the Celtics lost last Game 2 was because they played horrible D in the second half. They picked it up a little when they got close in the 4th, but they allowed Detroit to make the clutch shots. You don't give up shots like that in the Conference Finals. It doesn't matter how the big 3 did, if you don't play defense, your not going to win. The only positives I took out of last night is that Paul Pierce is staying hot on offense and Ray is finally starting to show signs he was coming out of his slump. It's too bad he got some early fouls called against him or he might have had even more of an impact on the game. NBA Angle plays for this NBA Playoff Picks Matchup When DETROIT team Played as Home team as a Favorite - After a conference game - playing on Saturday 26-6 SU in this spot.
