As we review the Cleveland Browns AFC North Betting Odds for 2008 we all ready know they have an explosive offense and they are all coming back from the 2007 season. The big concern is can QB Derek Anderson continue to lead the offense through out the season and bring his interceptions down from last year, when he had 19? The NFL Thinks the Cleveland Browns will be a good team this year. Cleveland has five primetime games this season, which is an unbelievable number for a team that didn't make the playoffs last season. This team is everyone’s pick to win the AFC North this season; they will get tons of national exposure, with three games on ESPN’s Monday Night Football. That hasn’t reached the playoffs since 1999. They will open up by hosting the NY Giants on October 13th on Monday night, then they will play in Buffalo on November 17th, and then on December 15th they play an away game at Philadelphia. Those are the three Monday night football games. The Browns also have two Sunday night games with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Denver Broncos. The AFC North Betting Odds at Bodoglife.com currently have the Cleveland Browns 28/1 to win the 2009 Superbowl. The Browns went 10-6 last season and just missed the playoffs. Pittsburgh made the playoffs going 10-6 but they won both games against Cleveland last season. Quarterback Derek Anderson had a great year in 2007, threw 29 touchdown passes, just one shy of the team record set by Brian Sipe in 1980. Anderson has a rocket arm but needs to work on his touch passes this season. The Browns feel good about the 2008 season with QB Anderson. They signed him to a $24 million and includes over $13 million in guaranteed money, after the 2007 season. This is a good move for Cleveland. It gives the Browns another year to see if Anderson is the real deal and moves forward (because let's face it, he was good, not great) and puts them in a position to evaluate things into the 2008 season. They do have backup QB Brady Quinn who isn't quite ready yet for the starting job. Quinn is just biding his time and waiting for Derek to screw up. They have to go with the proven commodity in Derek Anderson... at least for this season. The AFC North Betting Odds at Bodogelife.com currently have the Cleveland Browns 9/1 to win the 2009 AFC Championship. The Browns really did nothing in the draft, as they are keeping basically all the players from last year's team. They sent there first three draft picks elsewhere this year via trade. They have 19 starters returning this year, 11 offense, 8 defense, kicker and punter. The Browns should know by the end of the first month of the season (September) if they are going to be a contender for the division. They start the season off with a home game against Dallas followed by a home game with Pittsburgh and then they go on the road for two games against Baltimore and Cincinnati. They need to at least go 2-2 or better to have a chance at division title the first 4 games of the season before their bye week.
