Could All-Pro RB LaDainian Tomlinson and the San Diego Chargers upset the Indianapolis Colts? The short answer from the SportsGenius is No! Currently the odds makers over at SportBetting.com have the San Diego Chargers at +9 for this NFL playoff matchup.
The long answer follows:
The Chargers put together a nice little season going 12-5, but only 4 of those wins came on the road. Indy lost only 2 games all year, one of those was against the Patriots and the other was the final game of the season when the Colts didn't play anyone. San Diego ranks a very average 14th in yards per rush and Indy's defense ranks 7th against the rush.
The Chargers rank 16th in yards per pass and Indy's Defense ranks 2nd against the pass. The Colt's are number 3 in penalties and yards...the Chargers are 18th and 22nd respectively. The Colts offense is No. 2 in first downs and San Diego's offense ranks 25th.
To boil it down....Indy and the Payton Manning led Colts outclass San Diego in nearly every category, they simply move the ball more efficiently than San Diego and take care of the ball much better. It won't be close. Take Indy.
