Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers play host to Mike Holmgren’s Seattle Seahawks on Saturday with the winner advancing to the NFC Championship game next week. The Packers have not been to the NFC Championship game since Holmgren was their coach. "Mike Holmgren has meant a lot, obviously, to my career," Favre said. "And that will never change." SBG Global reports that early NFL betting has the public taking Seahawks on the Road. NFL Playoff Betting Preview Seattle Seahawks (11-6) at Green Bay Packers (13-3) Saturday, 4:30 pm Eastern – FOX SBG Global Opening Line: Packers - 8.5 , Total 40.5 Favre has lost six of his last eight playoff games but he heads into this postseason with perhaps his best team since Holmgren was the coach. Favre was near the top of the NFC in passing yards (4,155), touchdown passes (28) and completion percentage (66.5) this season. This will be the 21st playoff game for Favre, fifth all-time in NFL history. He is 11-9 in the postseason but only 1-4 in his last five games but that win was against Seattle at Lambeau in 2004. That was a 33-27 overtime win. That was the game in which Seattle quarterback Matt Hasselbeck threw an interception in overtime that was return by Al Harris for a touchdown. Favre has not played well recently in the playoffs throwing 9 TD passes versus 14 interceptions. "I don't think it factors in how he's played this year and what he's been asked to do in this offense," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. "Those are situations that he can learn from as an individual, but I don't think it affects our football team." Favre threw four interceptions in Green Bay’s last playoff game in 2005 as the Packers lost to Minnesota 31-17. This is a different Packers team though as they had the bye last week instead of having to play the Wild Card round. Seattle is trying to make it to the conference title game for the second time in three years. The Seahawks defeated Washington 35-14 last week in a game that was much closer than the final score indicated. Seattle dominated the first three quarter but only led 13-0. They then gave up two touchdowns and were in serious trouble but Washington missed a field goal and Seattle drove down to take the lead 21-14. They tacked on two late touchdowns for the final margin. Seattle will try and put pressure on Favre in Saturday’s game. They were fourth in the NFL with 45 sacks and Patrick Kerney was second in the league with 14.5. Favre was only sacked 19 times this season. "Brett, he can avoid a sack now," Seahawks All-Pro linebacker Lofa Tatupu said. "They aren't worried about keeping everyone in, because (releasing them) just gives him more options. He sees it all. I don't think he's looking at his receivers. He looks to see where the blitz is coming from, then he knows where he's going with the ball." SBG Global Current Line: Packers - 7.5 , Total 43 The Seahawks may have a tough time matching scores with Green Bay. They have a weak running game and face a tough Green Bay rush defense. The game will fall to Seattle quarterback Matt Hasselbeck who will need to have a big performance. That may be difficult in cold weather. There is a chance of snow and the temperature will be in the 20’s throughout the game. The Packers were 7-1 at home this season. "There was always the belief that the weather you get, that we will get probably, can affect the passing game more than the running game," said Holmgren, "Yeah, we understand all this passing business, but when it comes down to December and January, you've got to be able to bang it around a little bit.” The Packers actually have a running game now with Ryan Grant and he should be able to take pressure off of Favre. Grant had five 100-yard efforts over his final 10 games and finished with 956 yards rushing and eight touchdowns.
