The Philadelphia Eagles will try to get back to the top of the NFC East, which produced three playoff teams including the Superbowl Champion NY Giants. Running back Brain Westbrook is one of the leagues most versatile running backs. He racked up the league-best 2,104 yards from scrimmage last season, averaging 4.8 yards per carry and catching 90 passes. Westbrook was one of the best moves Coach Reid's made. He can bull through the middle for tough yards or step out and become a graceful and speedy wide receiver. They need him healthy all season to win the division.
Donovan McNabb appears to be back after recovering from an injury in the 2006 season. He struggled early last season after returning from this injury. He probably came back to soon last year as he looked uncomfortable in the pocket in the early part of the season. But he looked good at the end of the season as he lead the Eagles to three straight victories to close out the season. McNabb has been on the hot seat every year, but this season more than ever. McNabb missed two games last year with a sprained ankle, but he returned the final month of the season back on track. He must stay healthy all season, and he must deliver or the Eagles will look to deal him after the year if they don't make the playoffs. McNabb's back up is A.J. Feeley who came in the two games McNabb went down, even know they lost the two games, he played really well and they were in the game right to the end and almost pulled off upsets to the undefeated Patriots and Seattle. Donovan McNabb is on the hot seat, he must make playoffs this season or he is gone. We also know that running back Brian Westbrook will be the key to their offense. They finished in 4th place last year in the division going (8-8). They lost both games against the NY Giants, which I don't think will happen this year, I think they will at least split the season series. The free agent signing of Asante Samuel will help the secondary on defense which was horrible last year, 30th in the NFL. I think they will go over the total for total wins this season. They should open up the season going 4-2. With 10 games remaining after that they should get to 9 wins at least for the season. The key is McNabb needs to stay healthy through out the year. If he doesn't get it done this year he will be gone next season. The oddsmakers at Bodoglife.com currently have Philadelphia Eagles 8.5 -170 2008 Regular Season Wins odds.
