Last season’s run by the New England Patriots to a 16-0 regular season mark has inspired BetUS oddsmakers to ask the question: will any team go undefeated in 2008? Not surprisingly, the Patriots are the +1500 favorites to repeat the feat. Jeff Alexander takes a look at several teams he feels could actually pull it off in this NFL odds to go undefeated article. New England Patriots: +1500 at BetUS Sportsbook The Patriots went right on past 16-0 and made it to 18-0 last season before losing to the New York Giants in the Super Bowl. The loss left them one win shy of going down in history as the greatest NFL team ever. With record-setting playmakers Tom Brady and Randy Moss ready to team up again, the Pats have a shot at putting together back-to-back undefeated regular seasons. The biggest thing to look at when deciding if a team has a chance to win all of their games is their schedule and the Pats have one of the easiest schedules in the league. New England opens the season against three teams which combined to win just 9 games last season (Kansas City, New York Jets, Miami). The Pats will have to beat the Colts on the road, but they did that last season, and they’ll also have to beat the San Diego Chargers, but they did that twice last year. BetUS oddsmakers also ask the question if the Patriots will go 19-0 and win the Super Bowl. The betting line is +2000 for New England to pull off that feat. Dallas Cowboys: +1600 at BetUS Sportsbook Right behind the Patriots at +1600 odds are the Dallas Cowboys, who finished the 2007 NFL regular season 13-3. The Cowboys are slated to be the best team in a weaker NFC conference and that has the oddsmakers favoring them over every other NFC contender to pull off an undefeated regular season. It was the New England Patriots which finally defeated the Cowboys last year after Dallas got off to a 5-0 start, but New England is not on Dallas’ schedule this season. The Cowboys may have ran the table last season if they won that game with New England instead of the Patriots as Dallas’ only other losses were down the stretch when they were more worries about going into the playoffs healthy. Dallas will have to play the defending Super Bowl champs twice, but the Cowboys swept them in the regular season a year ago. Other than that, they get a nice draw of AFC opponents as they don’t have to face New England, San Diego, or Indianapolis. With a major sour taste left in Dallas’ mouth following an early exit in the playoffs, the Boys just might come out and run the table. San Diego Chargers: +1600 at BetUS Sportsbook Two seasons ago, the Chargers finished the regular season at 14-2 and were two three point losses away from being undefeated. This team is more determined than ever to reach the Super Bowl following a defeat in last year’s AFC title game. With six games against the weak AFC West division, which did not produce another team with a winning record last season, the Chargers will have a shot. They’ll also have breezers with the Miami Dolphins, Atlanta Falcons, and New York Jets. Getting to play New England and Indianapolis at home makes an undefeated season a realistic goal for the Bolts.
