Bodog Sportsbook lists team props for both the Giants and the Patriots for Super Bowl XLII . We’ll take a look at them in this article to see if we can find any angles on these propositions. With no further ado, here are my Patriots - Giants Super Bowl predictions . Team to score first in the game New York Giants +140 New England Patriots -170 The Patriots are the experienced team here and likely won’t feel the nerves as much in the early going which should result in them getting on the board first. I don’t like the odds here though for what is really a pretty arbitrary bet. Team to score last in the game New York Giants +130 New England Patriots -160 I feel this wager should be made according to how you see this game going and which team you feel will win. If you like the Patriots to win, take them here as Belichick’s team has shown all season that it will not let up. If you like the Giants, take them here as a late score will more than likely be the game winner for them. While oddsmakers will lead us to the winners more times than not, sacrificing the juice is not always a good idea. Leave this one alone unless you feel like you have a good handle. NE Patriots first score of the game will be? Touchdown -190 Field Goal of Safety +155 The Patriots didn’t go undefeated throughout the regular season by finishing drives with field goals and safeties are a rarity. Again, odds aren’t good, but I have to side with the Pats scoring a TD first. NY Giants first score of the game will be? Touchdown -150 Field Goal or Safety +120 I think the Giants will kick a field goal first. This team has started slow in many games this season before finishing strong. I think this trend continues. First score will be worth just 3. Team to Punt first in the game New York Giants -170 New England Patriots +140 It looks like we have a favorite heavy card thus far. I think it’s going to take a possession or two for New York to settle down as this is all so new to them. They’ll settle in after that. Take the Giants to punt first. Team to get the first 1st Down in the game New York Giants +110 New England Patriots -140 This prop almost has as much to do with luck as the coin toss one. Which ever team gets the ball first will get the first 1st down in my opinion, but there’s no way to determine who that will be. If you want to bet this one, bet the value and take the Giants. Team to commit First Penalty in the game New York Giants -120 New England Patriots -110 I’m going to have to take the Giants here for the sheer fact that the noise, the hype, the stage is going to be something different than most of them have felt. Team to have the Longest Touchdown scored in game New York Giants +155 New England Patriots -190 This one might surprise some of you, but I’ll take New York here showing good value. With the Giants defending against the big play so heavily, I believe it will be the Pats, which stick with what they do no matter who they are playing, which will give up the biggest gainer. Team to use their Coaches Challenge first in the game New York Giants -115 New England Patriots -115 Your guess is as good as mine here. Anytime that you see the odds are exactly the same, it means that there is nothing for oddsmakers to give one team an advantage over the other. Team to have the Longest Kickoff Return in the game New York Giants -155 New England Patriots +125 I’ll play the value here. Neither team has serious threats on kickoff returns, but Ellis Hobbs had a 108-yard return this season and has proved to be a good returner in the past. Team to have the Longest Punt Return in the game New York Giants +150 New England Patriots -200 I’ll play the value again here. Both teams are excellent punt coverage teams, but I think the Giants will come out with the longest one because of Chris Hanson’s lack of in-game punting this season. His gross average in the playoffs is just 38 yards for his career which is less than the 20-year vet Feagles’ net. Shorter kicks often cause teams to overrun their responsibilities. First team offense to cross 50 Yard Line New York Giants +120 New England Patriots -150 I’ll take the Pats as I like Brady’s poise to lead them on a drive with their first possession. Team to commit the most Turnovers in the game New York Giants -300 New England Patriots +240 It’s almost worth it to take the Pats as a value bet here, but the numbers would suggest that the Giants will have the most turnovers and that’s why you are seeing such poor value in taking them. Which team will record the 1st QB sack in game? New York Giants +120 New England Patriots -150 I’ll take the G-Men here. They have two elite pass rushers in Strahan and Umenyiora. I think they’ll test Brady’s ankle and get to him first. Check out Bodog Sportsbook for even more team props to wager on Super Bowl Sunday.
