The Philadelphia Flyers take on the Pittsburg Penguins tonight in game 2 of their NHL playoff series. In game 1 of this series, the Penguins outplayed the Flyers and won the game 4-2. Evgeni Malkin had an amazing game and he showcased his talent and his toughness. Pittsburg looks to make it 2 wins in a row with a solid performance tonight. The Flyers will have to change their game plan, I they want to be successful.
After game 1 a couple things are obvious. If the Flyers want to make a series out of this they are going to have to do a couple of things. They are going to need to play physical, but while doing so stay out of the penalty box. Not getting penalties is crucial because the Penguins are dominate on the power play this year. They will also need to apply pressure to opposing goaltender Marc-Andre Fluery. They need to get in his crease and distract him with screens, so they are able to score goals. They will need to get production out of Daniel Briere and Mike Richards. Briere has 8 goals and 6 assists in the playoffs for 14 points. Richards is not far behind with 6 goals and 7 assists for 13 points. These two will have to get it going tonight. Currently Oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com have the Flyers as a +190 underdog heading into the tonight’s contest. The Penguins have been dominate in this years playoffs. They have a young team, but show no signs of inexperience. Captain Sidney Crosby leads the way for this team. In 10 playoffs games, he has only 3 goals but has a league leading 12 assists. The man he has been getting the puck to is Evgeni Malkin. Malkin has 8 goals and 9 assists in this years playoffs, and only looks to get more. These two have been Pittsburgs powerhouse players. Another player we can’t forget to mention is goalie Marc-Andre Fluery. He has been spectacular, posting 9 wins and only 1 loss in the playoffs. He has the best goals against average of any goaltender with 1.78 and has a save percentage of 0.937. Pittsburg is just too much for the Flyers to handle. I like them to come out and win this game.
