The National Hockey League has yielded some FAT returns as of late for our team of handicappers. On the radio show, we have been doling out winners like they’re cotton candy! Wednesday’s money line pick of the Penguins was one of the easiest calls of the season!
Philadelphia was severely undermanned due to injury and was playing their second game in as many nights, while Pittsburgh was well rested and was chomping at the bit to play. The result was a predictable and easy win for Sidney Crosby & co. There are more to be had if you pay attention!

Get back on the Avalanche
The return of Pierre Turgeon has really energized the attack of the Avalanche. He has only played four games in 2006-2007 and the team is 3-1 in those contests. Not only that, but Colorado has managed to score at least four goals in each of the games Turgeon has played. The veteran second-line center has chipped in three goals and four points in that span and the team seems more balanced since his insertion. Stay on Colorado for the next few games and look at going over the posted totals if they are favorable as well.
Rangers playing arresting defense
The New York Rangers are 6-1-3 in their last ten games and part of the reason has been a return to great defense. In fact, they have given up two goals or less in their last four starts and that makes them a very attractive bet on the money line right now. If you can find a game total of six or six-and-a-half, then think about the under in their games as well.
Home cooking for the Flames
With an amazing home record and a terrible road record, the Calgary Flames are a very polarizing team. However, they have played well overall as of late, meaning oddsmakers will be favoring them over the next few games. The only problem? They are embarking on a road trip. With a 3-7-3 away record, take advantage of the odds and go against the Flames when it looks good.
Sharks biting on the over?
San Jose is often locked in low-scoring affairs, as has been the case recently. But the one common theme is that they keep winning regularly. One of the reasons for their success of late has been the emergence of rookie Joe Pavelski. He has an incredible seven goals in only 10 NHL games! Pavelski has single-handedly made the Sharks worth betting on when their team total is only 2.5 goals. Look at nabbing San Jose on this over/under figure when possible.
