The best golfers in the world don't get much time to get refocused after the British Open as the fourth and final major of the season goes off just a few weeks later. Jimmy Boyd has already done his homework and is here to reveal his early 2008 PGA Championship odds and predictions. Winning majors seems to be the measuring stick of a golfer's success and winning the PGA Championship also carries other incentives. The winner of this event gets their ticket stamped to the four major tournaments for the next five years without having to qualify. Tiger Woods has saved his best golf for the last major having won this event each of the past two seasons so the field has to like that he will be sitting this one out. All I can say is that the top golfers better take advantage because I don't expect Tiger to miss many more majors the rest of his career. We had a couple cashes with Philly Boy early in the season and he is primed and ready to rise to the occasion again. Mickelson has had some struggles in major tournaments since winning back-to-back majors with the PGA Championship at the end of the 2005 season and the Masters at the beginning of the 2006 season. Mickelson played well in the Masters again this year, finishing tied for fifth, but he barely cracked the top 20 in the U.S. and British Opens. The best golfer in the world outside of Tiger Woods will live up to his billing here. He is still third in both points and on the money list despite how much his driver has tanked this season. Plain and simple, without Tiger Woods in the field, Lefty is the man to beat.

Choi has earned the respect we are giving him here by playing lights out at the PGA Championship the past few seasons. He cashed in a 6th place finish in 2004 and followed that up with a 7th in 2006. Having played to a respectable 16th place finish at the British Open recently, Choi is finding his game at just the right time. Choi won at the Sony Open earlier this season. We'll make a play on Choi at a great price.

Cabrera is more than worth a shot at this price. Having won the U.S. Open last year puts Cabrera on a short list of competitors who actually know what it takes to win big tournaments. The rest of those guys aren't packing near the punch at the ticket office. Cabrera is overdue for a good showing in this tournament. A limited selection of tournaments played this season will have Cabrera healthy and ready to shock the favorites.
